Church Life If you are visiting with us for the first time, WELCOME! We are glad it was your choice to worship Christ with us today. We hope this time of praise and the study of God s Word will be an encouragement for you. Please join us between services for refreshments and fellowship. I love this church because of the community available for every age group and opportunity to serve. I love the passion that the church has for the lost. I look forward to participating in the Haiti mission trips to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. I serve Jesus with you by teaching a 9:30 AM Middle School class.

Make plans now to attend this conference which will both inspire and challenge us as parents, grandparents, or simply concerned adults who desire to influence children and youth for God. What will the next generation look like? That all depends upon how much we will invest in their future. Church Life Desserts and Carols Highlights December 9th Jesus Christ is the matchless Giver. No matter how much we give, we can never out give God. When God provides more money, we often think, This is a blessing. Yes, but it would be just as scriptural to say, This is a test. Abundance isn t God s provision for me to live in luxury. God entrusts me with His money not to build my kingdom on earth, but to build His kingdom in Heaven. The act of giving is a vivid reminder that it s all about God, not about us. It s saying I am not the point, He is the point. He does not exist for me; I exist for Him. God s money has a higher purpose than my affluence. Giving affirms Christ s lordship it dethrones me and exalts Him. As we learn to give, we draw closer to God. But no matter how far we move on in the grace of giving, Jesus Christ remains the matchless Giver: For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich (2 Cor. 8:9). No matter how much we give, we can never out give God. Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. (1 Chron. 29:14) From Seeing the Unseen This Season let s make every effort to invest together in the 2020 Vision Christmas Offering which is set aside for missions, benevolence, and the expansion of our campuses. God gave all He had for us. May He be pleased with our gifts to Him.

God s Word - Time With God Today s SOAP from Pastor Sam Jay Scripture: Joshua 10:6-14 Observation: Joshua 10:6 Joshua receives a request for help. Joshua 10:7 Joshua responded with every available military resource. Joshua 10:8 Joshua receives a promise from God. Joshua 10:9-14 Joshua and Israel are victorious because God keeps His promises. Application: When the men of Gibeon were in trouble, they automatically called upon Joshua for help. When we are in trouble, we should call upon other believers for help. Godly leadership should defend the family of faith at all costs. Godly leadership should use every available resource to aid family of faith in need. Trust in God to show up in time of need. We have a God who fights our battles with us and sometimes completely by Himself for us. God is a personal God who draws near to and listens to His children. God is completely worthy of our total trust one hundred percent of the time. Prayer: Lord, thank you for being the God who wins my battles! Forgive me when I fail to put my total trust in you one hundred percent of the time. You are faithful to keep Your promises! How Do I SOAP? Scripture - Read the passage of Scripture for the day and allow God to speak to you. Look for a verse that spoke to you. Write it down. Observation - Write your observation as to what is happening in the text. What do you believe is the point of the passage? Application - Ask yourself how this Scripture applies to your life right now. Write down how it can apply to you today. Prayer - This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this Scripture, or even a prayer for a greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say! Now, write it out. S.O.A.P. Scripture Observation Application Prayer Grab your Bible, a pen, and a notebook. Get ready to hear from God through His Word! This Week s SOAP Savior Announced M Luke 1:26-30 T Luke 1:31-33 W Isaiah 9:6 TH Luke 1:34-35 F Luke 1:36-38 S Luke 18:27 Main Passage for December 25 Luke 1:26-38 HCSB Memory Verse: Luke 1:32-33 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His Kingdom will have no end.

Commitment Kept Scripture 6 Then the men of Gibeon sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: Don t abandon your servants. Come quickly and save us! Help us, for all the Amorite kings living in the hill country have joined forces against us. 7 So Joshua and his whole military force, including all the fighting men, came from Gilgal. 8 The Lord said to Joshua, Do not be afraid of them, for I have handed them over to you. Not one of them will be able to stand against you. 9 So Joshua caught them by surprise, after marching all night from Gilgal. 10 The Lord threw them into confusion before Israel. He defeated them in a great slaughter at Gibeon, chased them through the ascent of Beth-horon, and struck them down as far as Azekah and Makkedah. 11 As they fled before Israel, the Lord threw large hailstones on them from the sky along the descent of Beth-horon all the way to Azekah, and they died. More of them died from the hail than the Israelites killed with the sword. 12 On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the Lord in the presence of Israel: Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and moon, over the Valley of Aijalon. 13 And the sun stood still and the moon stopped until the nation took vengeance on its enemies. Isn t this written in the Book of Jashar? So the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed its setting almost a full day. 14 There has been no day like it before or since, when the Lord listened to the voice of a man, because the Lord fought for Israel. Joshua 10:6-14 Main Point Always in control, God uses all situations to bring about His purpose. *Notes adapted from Explore the Bible, LifeWay Christian Resources. All scripture passages from the Holman Christian Standard Bible.

Notes Next Steps Are you able to boldly ask of the Lord because you are in the center of His will pursuing His purposes? God s Word - Devoted to Him Your Christmas Story Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin s name was Mary. Luke 1:26 27 What if Joseph and Mary had shown up in furs with a chauffeur, bling-blinged and high-muckety-mucked? And what if God had decked out Bethlehem like Hollywood on Oscar night: red carpet, flashing lights, with angels interviewing the royal couple? Mary, Mary, you look simply divine. Had Jesus come with such whoop-de-do, we would have read the story and thought, My, look how Jesus entered their world. But since he didn t, we can read the story and dream. My, might Jesus be born in my world? My everyday world? Isn t that what you indwell? Not a holiday world. Or a red-letter-day world. No, you live an everyday life. You have bills to pay, beds to make, and grass to cut. Your face won t grace any magazine covers, and you aren t expecting a call from the White House. Congratulations. You qualify for a modern-day Christmas story. God enters the world through folks like you and comes on days like today. So be alert... today just might be your Christmas story. Kids Ministry Today s Sunday School Lesson Today, the children learned about the day the sun stood still based on Joshua 10:6-14. They learned that God answers the prayers of his people. Their memory verse today was Joshua 1:7. The verse for next week is Luke 1:32-33 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end. Practice this verse with your child throughout the week so that they can earn a Disciple Dollar next Sunday for memorizing the verse. Their connection passage today was Joshua 10:1-14, in which they learned that God answered Joshua s prayer. Review questions from Joshua 10:1-14 How did God protect His people in today s Bible story? Whose prayer did God answer? How often do you pray? What do you pray about? The Disciple Dollar Store will be open EVERY week. Type in this link www.pinterest.com/connect_church on your computer to have access to the Connect Church Pinterest including all of the worship folder activities weekly. Today the children learned about the day the sun stood still. Through this story they learned that God answers the prayers of His people. Below is a prayer hands craft which you can do with your child to teach them a way to pray. This printable copy is free and will help guide your child through the A.C.T.S. method. When we pray, we can share our adoration, confess our sins, give thanks, and ask for Him to supply our needs. Thank you to those who participated in the Giving Tree. The gifts are going to bless foster and adoptive families in our area. If you haven't brought your gift in yet, be sure to drop it off this Wednesday. This Wednesday will be the AWANA Christmas party! Make sure to join us for all the fun. Congratulations to Molly Gatlin and Natalie Willis for completing their Hang Glider Book Review! Preschool Ministry Christmas Party! Christmas Story! Today s Sunday School Lesson Today, the children learned what the Bible says about the birth of Jesus as the angels appeared to the shepherds. (Luke 2:1-20) This week s verse is For there is born to you this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11. Please, help your child memorize the verse and review the lesson by asking these questions: Where did Mary and Joseph live? Why did they go to Bethlehem? Did Mary believe in and trust in God? Why was Jesus birth so important? Do you believe in Jesus? The children will earn stickers and stamps this week for knowing the verse and the story.
