call to worship The Scriptural call to worship at the beginning of our service reminds us of the centrality of God s Word. God reveals Himself to us through His Word and invites us to respond corporately to Him in worship. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, The Lord reigns! Let the sea roar, and all that fills it let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! 1 Chronicles 16:31-34 offering Giving is an act of worship in which the members of Hickory Grove give generously of our substance to further the mission of the church and to bring glory to God. No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 benediction And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8 3
romans sermon series Today, Hickory Grove begins a new sermon series. Join Pastor Clint Pressley as he goes verse-by-verse and teaches through the book of Romans. Romans is one of the most influential books ever written. Martin Luther called it the absolute epitome of the Gospel. The great theologian Augustine of Hippo was dramatically converted by taking it up and reading its pages! Paul s letter to the Romans was written to clarify the Gospel, encourage believers, and motivate evangelism. It was written to a church trying to live out its Christian faith with a distinctly Christian worldview. Similar to us, they were diverse in their backgrounds and experiences, yet, just like us, they were unified in their belief in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Romans is an incredible letter inspired by God and created to lead us to worship the Lord Jesus Christ and to live out the implications of the Gospel together as a church. 4
scripture journals We have Scripture journals available for purchase in our resource center to help you study, memorize, and meditate on Romans throughout this series. scripture memory During the Romans sermon series, take the challenge to memorize different verses from Romans. For the month of February the Scripture memory passage is Romans 1:16-17. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, The righteous shall live by faith.
