Prayer for Illumination... Lainey Jacobs Let us pray together. Lord, open our hearts and minds by the power of your Holy Spirit, that, as the Scriptures are read and your Word proclaimed, we may hear with joy what you say to us today. Amen Scripture Lesson... Genesis 15:1, 7-8, 12, 17-18 & 17:5-7 (NIV)... Lainey Jacobs 1 After This, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield and your exceeding great reward. 7 He also said to him, I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it. 8 But Abram said, Sovereign LORD, how can I know that I will gain possession of it? 12 As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him. 17 When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces. 18 On that day, the Lord made a covenant with Abram. 5 No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you. 7 I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. This is the Word o f G od for the people of God. Thanks be to God! Amen! Anthem... I Lift My Heart... Chancel Choir Sermon... Guaranteeing the Finish... Rev. Steve Wellman Invitation Hymn...
