Luke 3:22 THE LEGION OF MARY The Legion of Mary is an organization dedicated to prayer and bringing the comfort of prayer to those in need. Our Presentation Parish group meets in St. Joachim every Wednesday at 10:00 am. They begin by reciting the Holy Rosary and specialized prayers followed by a meeting to address some of the spiritual needs of the parish and individual parish members. The Legion members make regular visits to several assisted living homes in the area where they pray the rosary and sing to help lift the spirits of those in need. Some of the members are also Eucharistic Ministers and lovingly bring communion to those who are unable to participate in the Mass. PRESENTATION PARISH SCHOOL This week we invite you to our Wednesday School Mass on January 16 at 8:30 am. We will honor our students who have earned a School-wide Learning Expectation award right after Mass. We also ask that you keep the students in your prayers as they undergo STAR Testing this week. This test is given three times a school year to check on student progress toward academic goals. We are very grateful to the Knights of Columbus who held an essay contest for our 8th grade students on Faith and the Family. Three of our students participated and were honored at their Christmas dinner with a certificate and prize. One of those students, Amy, earned third place in the contest that included another school in the diocese. Her essay will move on to the next level. PRESENTATION FOOD BANK The Presentation Food Pantry is a great way to get involved, and in doing so feeding hungry families in our parish and community. The Presentation Food Pantry distributes food on the first and third Saturdays of every month in St. Anne s meeting room from 7:00 am to approximately 9:30 am. This ministry also provides school credit for students in need of community service hours for school, Religious Education or Youth Ministry. If you have ever had the question how can I help our church and community? this is a simple way to answer that question for yourself!
