CURATE'S CORNER Christmas is over, Epiphany has passed, and now we are moving quite quickly towards the season of Lent. As we prepare to enter this season of Lent, I want to name for us as a congregation of Episcopal Christians what our Prayer Book calls us to in order to live a holy season of Lent. "I invite you, therefore, in the name of the Church, to the observance of a holy Lent, by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God's holy Word." (BCP, 265) The Season of Lent is more than simply 40 days in the Church year, it is a time for each of us to enter into deep conversation with Christ, with ourselves, and with one another about faith and our lives as Christians. So, in keeping with the Prayer Book's invitation to the observance of a holy Lent, we have numerous opportunities to engage with Scriptural study, prayer, education, and meditation. Our Sunday services, Ash Wednesday with the Imposition of Ashes, our Soup and Study program, beginning on the 21st of February and continuing each Wednesday evening in Lent at 6:00 pm, Faith Matters each Sunday at 9:30 am, Choral Evensong and Sunday Night Lights, Glen Cove Men's Shelter service opportunities, and more, are opportunities for all of us to engage with our faith in meaningful ways this Lent. I hope you'll join me and take part in as much as you can! Blessings, Fr. Stephen

THISTLE & SPOON MINISTRY Sunday, January 21st Glen Cove Men's Shelter

Thank you to everyone who offered their time and brought food to two wonderful nights serving at the Men's Homeless Shelter! These men really appreciate the healthy and love-filled meals we make and serve to them. I think all of the volunteers would agree, "To give is to receive" sums it up pretty nicely. ~ Diana Fredericks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AGAPE -WOMEN'S MINISTRY Tuesday, January 23 rd Glen Cove Men's Shelter
