Our guests feel it. St. Paul s Heartbeat They feel the heartbeat! God promises his people: I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you (Ezekiel 36:26). For the last 160 years, that promise has been fulfilled here at St. Paul s. God has given his people hearts that beat with a love for Jesus. That love for the Savior caused St. Paul s to grow from the 12 German families that met in homes to a family of 2700 individuals who are blessed to meet on a 29 acre campus with beautiful facilities. St. Paul s Heart Beats with Generosity Last fall we celebrated this truth: A Generous God creates Generous People with a Generous Vision. We have seen that generosity in action in your on-going gifts to the Mission and Ministry of St. Paul s and to the special needs that arose in 2017. That heartbeat of generosity leads us to celebrate anniversaries here at St. Paul s with a challenging goal. Celebrating St. Paul s Heartbeat The year 2018 is a year of significant anniversaries. 60 th anniversary of the Youth Center, the initial school building 50 th anniversary of the founding of our Lutheran Elementary School 40 th anniversary of the dedication of our church building 5 th anniversary of The Bridge service To celebrate these anniversaries, we are gathering special gifts with the goal of A Cool Million to improve our facilities so we can continue to share the love of Christ. Turn the page to see the projects that A Cool Million could accomplish in the next two years.

A Cool School Building The heating system in most of our school building is beyond its life-expectancy. We want to be proactive and replace these aging systems before it becomes an emergency. But heating isn t the only need in our school. Imagine being in a classroom filled with 25 children when it is 95 degrees outside. It is far from an ideal learning environment! By air conditioning the school building, we are improving the learning environment for our school children. We will also be making this building a year-round facility. Although nothing is currently being planned, a year-round facility could allow us to develop summer programs that would benefit our congregation members and our community. We are budgeting $500,000 to cover a new HVAC system and related costs. Cooling (and heating) the school is half of the entire anniversary effort thus its name A Cool Million. A Brighter Church The lighting of the altar area of the church had become a fire hazard. Just before Easter those lights were replaced with a number of spotlights as part of our anniversary project. A Safer Playground The playground paving behind the Trinity Café is breaking apart. This summer we plan to repave the playground and add more playground equipment. A Centennial Gym Facelift The Centennial Gym, built in 1958, continues its useful life as needed gym space for our school and community. It is used weekly for our Sunday Kids Club opening. It hosts our school plays/musicals and other school gatherings. As part of A Cool Million, we would like to improve this important part of our facilities with new windows, ceiling treatment, roof replacement, light and sound equipment.

The Bridge is Growing The Bridge service, begun 5 years ago, has become an important part of our ministry with approximately onequarter of our weekly attendance at The Bridge. Each week a small army of volunteers sets up and takes down tens of thousands of dollars of equipment. A Cool Million would enable us to save wear on this equipment and volunteer time by installing some of the sound and lighting permanently. A Tithe for Missions Part of our vision of generosity is to grow in our support of missions. Oncampus improvements will cost $900,000. We will tithe (give 10%) of every Cool Million gift to provide $100,000 for our mission partners. Costa Maya Ministries Our Mexican Mission Partner on the Yucatan Peninsula wants to purchase the building they are now renting for $200,000. Our goal would be to provide $30,000 for this effort. Friends of China We currently have 42 teachers of English in China, building relationships on trust and cultural awareness, that provide opportunities to speak about the love of Christ. Our goal would be to provide $50,000 which would send 6 teachers to China for a year. Malawi Mission Partner If God blesses our efforts, we would like to provide an additional $10,000 in support to the work of Missionary John Holtz in Malawi, Africa. Garden Homes Lutheran, Milwaukee Our sister congregation, Garden Homes Lutheran Church and School, is experiencing a significant leadership change as both their pastor and principal have accepted calls to serve elsewhere. It is our plan to provide $10,000 in support during this time of transition. Hear the Heartbeat? Over the last month, we have asked a number of individuals in the congregation to give initial gifts toward A Cool Million. Everyone we visited is committed to praying that God would bless this Cool Million effort. We have already received initial gifts of $134,850! Gifts and plans-for-giving now total $516,600! We are well on our way to A Cool Million! Your brothers and sisters have given these advance gifts and plans-for-giving to encourage you as you make your personal plans for giving.

Your Heartbeat We are confident that your heart beats with the love of the Savior. We invite you to pray about this opportunity to improve our beautiful campus and prepare it to be a blessing to many more people in the years to come. This chart of potential gifts helps us see the size and number of gifts to achieve this goal. Your offering, no matter what the size, is a precious gift from God for which we give thanks. May the $516,600 in gifts, plans and dreams already received fill you with enthusiasm and confidence! God has blessed St. Paul s members with hearts that beat with a love for Jesus and a desire to share his love with others. It is a privilege to serve the Savior with you as we fulfill our mission: By every possible means we bring every person within our area of influence closer to Christ.
