Veteran s Day This coming Wednesday is our yearly Veteran s Day holiday. To you, Veterans, we owe a lifelong debt of gratitude because you were willing to go, to serve, and to give on behalf of the United States of America and on behalf of the principles that have made this nation the greatest nation on earth! May God bless you! It is the Veteran It is the Veteran, not the preacher, Who has given us freedom of religion. It is the Veteran, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the Veteran, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the Veteran, not the campus organizer, Who has given us freedom to assemble. It is the Veteran, not the lawyer, Who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the Veteran, not the politician, Who has given us the right to vote. Veteran, we salute you today, Veterans thank you for who you are And the sacrifices you have given. Veterans we honor you this day. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Romans 13:7 Join us on Veteran s Day in our fellowship hall at noon for a luncheon. Please call the church office or pick up a ticket. If you should have any questions, let us know. join with the Sanctuary Choir of Union Hill Baptist Church to present two great songs at our Community Thanksgiving Service on November 22 at 6 p.m. What a great day of worship we had in song last Sunday morning!! I have received more compliments and requests about the song the Celebration Choir/Praise Band presented, Every Praise, than any song we have ever done! As one of our senior ladies shared with me just this morning, the church came alive!! I agree. I truly feel that certain songs motivate and encourage us to give glory, praise, and worship to Almighty God!!! Thanks to the Choir and Praise Band for the hard work they put into practicing these songs and putting up with me!!! And how about Susan and Micah and the band? Man, was that a great song or what? I have already had someone want the title and music to that song, This Blood. God can, does and will stir our hearts with music...even Billy Graham is quoted as to how much he loves good worship music! Sing with your heart a new song, praise Him with the instruments! We have lots of things coming up in November and December that you will certainly want to be a part of! The Choir/Praise Band will December is FULL of special events you will want to join in on. Our Dessert Theater will be Sunday, December 6, at 6 p.m. A time to sit back, relax, and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, coffee, or tea, and nibble on some of of the bests desserts in north Alabama. Plus you will get to hear some good old-fashioned Christmas songs, join in singing carols. My wife has some special games I know you will want to be a part of. On Sunday, December 13, at 6 p.m., our Children s Choirs will present their Christmas program which is always a delight. Again make your plans to join us! On December 20 in the evening service, the Choir and Praise Band will present God Speaking, a wonderful message and reminder of how some people do not enjoy a memorable, family-filled time together due to many things in life, loss of a loved one, divorce, finances, etc. But knowing that God is still God, He is always there to help us through anything that comes our way! There is a lot going on at FBCO God is still working and is not finished with us yet! While He is working...don t miss a thing! Moses Clark

I am very excited about what is happening in the youth department in the coming months! Be on the lookout for our new look and our new name. Also, have a 5 on 5 Flag Football Tournament on December 12. Details can be found below. We are looking forward to what will be happening with our group in the coming months! Date: Saturday, December 12 Time: Registration Starts at 8:30 a.m. Every Team is Guaranteed 3 Games Free Lunch Every Player MUST Have an Event Waiver Additional Information and Waiver Forms May Be Found at http:// www.oneontafbc.org/flagfootball.html He has made everything beautiful in its time. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV) Can you remember seeing fall through child-like eyes? The beautiful colors, fun piles of leaves, and entertaining festivals and games make it a great season to be a kid! Thank you to our church family for helping to make our Fabulous Fall Festival one of those milestones of fall fun for our kids. We had a great turnout from our church, and we had close to 800 total people at our church on October 25! Another outreach to our community is our Upward basketball program. Sign-ups for Upward begin in a few days. Invite children and adults to participate with us. The program offers structured skill-building, character development, and fun play time, as well as devotion time. We need our church members to pray for the program, volunteer as coaches or referees, and to give donations for the needy children in our area to play. Put our Christmas Parade warming station on your calendar for December 8!

It is our desire for every person to become a disciple of Jesus Christ who loves God and people. We believe this happens best in a biblical community in which people are learning God s Word, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, ministering to each other, and serving together. At FBC, Sunday School allows you to connect with people in a similar season of life as you seek to live a lifestyle the looks more and more like Jesus. Join us on Sundays at 9 a.m. to find a class that is right for you. For more info, pick up a Sunday School brochure in the vestibule or outside the church office. Questions? Call 205-625-3191 or email cindy@oneontafbc.org. It s my honor to serve the Lord Jesus Christ at FBCO as Sunday School Director beginning in January 2016. I would like to ask everyone to pray for me. I am nervous, but willing to do my best. However, I cannot do it alone; your help is needed. I would like to thank every teacher, coteacher, and group leader for being so faithful to be on time, and being prepared to do what God has called you to do. I would also like to thank every Sunday School member as you strive to learn more about our Lord Jesus Christ. Second Timothy 2:15 says Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth. Title: The Love of God Text: 1 John 4:16-19 Date: November 8, 2015 Introduction: Back in the 1960 s, when the Russian government dictated atheism, a cosmonaut returned from space and said, Some people say that God lives out there. I looked around, and I didn t see any God out there. Billy Graham s wife, Ruth, responded to the published remark by noting he looked in the wrong place. She explained that if he d stepped outside of the space ship without his space suit, he would have seen God very quickly. (What is Heaven Like?, Jim Denison, 7/28/11) The apostle John was the opposite of the Russian cosmonaut. He not only believed in God, but gave three definitive statements in his writings about God. God is Spirit, (John 4:24) God is light, (1 John 1:5) and now, in this passage, God is love. (1 John 4:16) Our text does not say that God has love or that God displays love. It stated that God is love. He is not sometimes loving and sometimes unloving. God does not love some people and hate others. He is love! And everything God does, always in His dealings with everybody, is loving. Love is His nature. That is the essence of the teaching about God: God is love. How are we to understand the love of God? How should we respond? As we consider this subject, let s consider two facts. I. God s love is a love. II. God s love is a love. III. God s love is a love. IV. God s love is a love. V. God s love is a love. Bro. Larry Gipson First Baptist - Oneonta
