ORGAN DEDICATION CONCERT Zion Lutheran, Hiawatha Wednesday, August 12th, 6:30 PM Guest Organist: Neil Weston A graduate of the University of London and the Royal Academy of Music, with advanced performance diplomas from the Royal College of Music and the Royal College of Organists, Neil Weston was appointed to his first cathedral organist position in England at the age of 17. In this role he played regularly on BBC Radio and Television, as well as giving solo recitals throughout the United Kingdom and in Europe. He emigrated to the United States in 2000 and has performed in several of the nation's most prestigious venues, including the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, Washington National Cathedral, and the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. A past prizewinner of the American Guild of Organists National Competition in Organ Improvisation, he was presented by the AGO in concert as an improviser at the National Cathedral on three occasions. His solo and ensemble recordings number over a dozen commercial offerings on both sides of the Atlantic. His performance style has been described by Musicweb as "exuding confidence, clarity, and precision"; the American Record Guide has complimented his "admirable playing", and The Organ Magazine has praised his "superb performances". Having served churches on both sides of the Atlantic, and formerly a member of the music faculty at George Washington University, Neil now works full time for the Rodgers Organ Company as District Manager for the Midwest, working closely with Rodgers representatives across thirteen states, helping an ever-growing number of churches acquire new organs and lift their musical horizons. This concert will be open to the members of Zion, their family and friends and guests of the other local LCMS churches. This free concert will last approximately 1 hour and will be followed by a small reception. 2015 FALL MISSION AUCTION NOVEMBER 22 nd Just a reminder that the Mission Auction is fast approaching.
