Greetings of Peace. Wow. It is April, and we celebrate Easter in two weeks! This weekend we celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Joan of Arc. We are honored to have Bishop Roger Gries, OSB, for the confirmation mass on Sunday April 7 at 2:00 PM. If you see any of our 8th graders who will share in this Sacrament, please let them know you are proud of them and will keep them in your prayers. They are the future of the church! Congratulations! May the Holy Spirit guide you in your journey of faith and in life. Looking to Holy Week at St. Joan of Arc, Jesus of Nazareth requests the honor of your presence. PSR Lenten Project The CRS Rice Bowl is the Lenten Project of Catholic Relief Services, the official international agency of the Catholic Community in the United States. Your child can hand in his/her rice bowl on Sunday/Monday, April 14/15 to the Office of Faith Formation. Thank you for your support and generosity for this needed and wonderful project. PSR Lenten Prayer Service Our PSR teens in Grades 7-8 will participate in a Lenten Prayer Service on Sunday, April 14 from 10:10-10:30am in Church. Our PSR children in Grades 1-6 will participate in a Lenten Prayer Service on Monday, April 15 from 4:40-5:00pm in Church. Parents are welcome to join us as we begin Holy Week and pray together. Mark the Dates: St. Joan of Arc VBC ROAR! Life is Wild, God is Good! Our SJA Vacation Bible Camp will be the week of June 24-28, 2019. We promise that it will be a week of fun, adventure, and bible learning as the children discover even though life gets wild, God is Good! Through hands-on activities, the children discover evidence of God in their everyday life. We invite children 4 years old through 4 th grade and our Adventure Crew, Grades 5-6 to attend. We welcome teens in Grades 7-8 to volunteer as aides and teens in Grades 8-12 to volunteer as Crew Leaders. Registration Forms are in the Gathering Area. News from Bishop Perez and the Diocese of Cleveland Beginning Divine Mercy Sunday, we will be changing our Communion Rite posture to reflect the original policy, first established in 2003. We will remain standing after the Lamb of God, throughout the singing of the Communion Hymn, until the end of the distribution of Holy Communion. Once the last person has received Holy Communion and the Communion Hymn ends, we may kneel or sit for private prayer. St. Joan of Arc Catholic School News By Mrs. Shelley DiBacco, School Principal Faith. Academics. Excellence. We congratulate our 8 th graders who will receive the sacrament of Confirmation Sunday at 2:00PM. May the Holy Spirit continue to bless them and their families with His gifts and the desire to grow in their faith and love for God. On Wednesday, April 3 rd, our 5 th graders along with our 5 th grade teacher, Ms. Bondra and our Physical Education teacher, Mrs. Lund, left to spend two nights at the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center. The environmental education curriculum, All the Rivers Run, is taught to students in grades 4-6 with a focus on exploration of the watershed. Time is spent mostly outdoors discovering the diversity of plant and animal life in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, learning about sustainable living, and exploring the intricacies of the Cuyahoga River Watershed. Hiking, singing, creating, sharing and learning are all a part of this hands-on, high energy experience. Our actors, actresses and mentors have been rehearsing for our spring musical, The Wizard of Oz. The Olsavsky Center is being transformed, the stage is set, and costumes are ready to be worn. Be sure to reserve tickets for April 13 or 14 to enjoy a fun evening. Tickets are on sale at the Chagrin Valley Little Theater and are going fast!!! The garden is an amazing Rosary garden located to the side of the rectory. Upcoming Programs and Events Thursdays of Lent Through the teachings of St. Ignatius of Loyola, we will learn to recognize God in our lives. We will learn different ways to pray. We will look at the Scriptures with new eyes. Through the weekly presentations and conversations with fellow parishioners, we will hopefully grow in our faith relationship with God. Come and spend this Lent getting to see Jesus more clearly so you can love Him more dearly! The retreat will be presented on the six Thursdays of Lent: March 7, 14, 21, 28, April 4, and 11, from 7:00-8:15pm in the Parish Hall. Our facilitator will be Mrs. Mary Kay Jones, Lay Ecclesial Minister for the Diocese and graduate of the Ignatian Spirituality Institute. April 9th Bioethics Today: Taking the Pulse of Life, and Caring for it Always. This is a free talk by Andrew Trew at 7PM at the Center for Pastoral Leadership, 28700 Euclid Ave. Wickliffe, 44092.There is also an option to have dinner before the talk at 6:30pm ($15). SJA students join the young artists on stage as peer models. The play will take place on Saturday, April 13th at 7:00 PM and Sunday, April 14th at 2:00 PM.
