Worship What You Need: Paperclip Memory Verse Card in your Bible at Psalm 33:11. Hello, friends! It is so great to see you today. It s a brand new month and we get to hear about a man named Joseph all month long. Do you know what s awesome about Joseph? God had a plan for him. Do you know what else is awesome? God has a plan for you, and [Bottom Line] God has a plan for me! When I ask you this very important question, Who has a plan for you? I want you to say, [Bottom Line] God has a plan for me. Let s try it. Who has a plan for you? HISTORYTELLER: Great job! You guys are super fantastic! Now let s sing our new song. Everyone stand up and dance with me. 2 HISTORYTELLER: That s right! [Bottom Line] God has a plan for me. In fact, that s what our memory verse tells us this month. Our memory verse tells us just that. Introductory Sketch CG: Intro Sketch Video Bible History Lesson What You Need: Bible, easel, Joseph with Coat and 11 Brothers Activity Pages, and a 14x14-inch magnetic whiteboard Activity pages will be prepared with magnets on the back for ease of use on the whiteboard. HISTORYTELLER: Hi, friends! My name is [Historyteller s name], and I do have a Bible Truth for you about someone who has the best plans EVER! You could say what I am going to tell you is a work of art, only it took a long time for it all to come together.
3 (Place the magnetic whiteboard on the easel.) I m going to use this beautiful frame to tell you about Joseph s to remind us that his life story is a work of art in the making, kind of like Jecobi s painting in the Clubhouse. Now, Joseph s story is found in this book. What book is this? (Hold up the Bible.) CHILDREN and HISTORYTELLER: The Bible! HISTORYTELLER: Yes! This is the Bible. It has God s Truth in it, and one of those is about a guy named Joseph. (Open the Bible and lay it aside. Stick the Joseph with Coat Activity Page in the middle of the corkboard.) Can you say hello to Joseph? CG: Joseph with Coat Slide CHILDREN and HISTORYTELLER: Hello, Joseph! HISTORYTELLER: Now let s say hello to his 11 brothers! You heard me right. Joseph had 11 brothers. Count with me as I put them up here with Joseph. (Stick the 11 Brothers next to Joseph with Coat on the display board. Count out loud as you point to them.) CG: 11 Brothers Slide CHILDREN and HISTORYTELLER: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11! STORYTELER: Whew! That s a lot of brothers! One day, their dad made the most beautiful, colorful coat, and he gave it to his favorite son. Can you look at these pictures and guess which son was his favorite son? (Pause for the children to respond.) That s right! It was Joseph. See his beautiful, colorful coat? CG: Joseph with Coat Slide (Point to the coat in the picture of Joseph.)
4 When their dad gave Joseph the special coat, do you think it made Joseph s brothers happy or mad? (Pause for the children to respond.) Right again! It made them mad very mad! They were so mad that Joseph got a special coat and they didn t that his older brothers decided to do something mean to Joseph. One day, while the older brothers were watching their father s sheep out in the fields, they saw Joseph coming and decided this was their chance to do something really mean to Joseph. Can you guess what they did? When Joseph got to where his older brothers were, they grabbed him, took away his special coat, and threw him in a hole! Everyone say, Oh, no, Joe! CG: Oh no, Joe! Slide CHILDREN and HISTORYTELLER: Oh, no, Joe! HISTORYTELLER: Wait! It gets worse. Then they sold him to strangers who were on their way to a faraway land called Egypt! Everyone say, Oh, no, Joe! CG: Oh no, Joe! Slide CHILDREN and HISTORYTELLER: Oh, no, Joe! (Take down the Joseph with Coat picture.) HISTORYTELLER: The brothers thought they would never ever see their brother Joseph again. Now, if you had to leave your family like Joseph and go far, far away and you thought you would never ever see your family again, do you think you would be sad, worried, or really scared? (Pause.) Me too! Even though this was a very hard time for Joseph, He trusted that God had a plan and He wasn t finished yet. Joseph s life looks kind of bad right now, but God has a plan, and when God is finished with Joseph s story, it will be a work of art too. That is what we want to remember this month: [Bottom Line] God has a plan for me. So, every time I ask you, Who has a plan for you? I want you to say,
5 God has a plan for me! Let s try it. Who has a plan for you? CHILDREN and STORYTELER: [Bottom Line] God has a plan for me! HISTORYTELLER: One more time. Who has a plan for you? CHILDREN and STORYTELER: [Bottom Line] God has a plan for me! HISTORYTELLER: He sure does. And when we trust God s plan, He can turn our lives into a work of art. That s the truth, friends.
