Sunday School begins again next Sunday at 9.45am in the Church Hall. All children are welcome to attend, and there s also a toddler s group available. Children and families are always welcome at the Parish Eucharist on Sundays at. Electoral Roll The 2016 Roll is now available for inspection and is available at the back of Church during services. It isn t left out at other times. Please check that your name is on the Roll and the information given is correct. If your name isn t on the Roll, please complete a form from the book table and hand it to Tony Rice- Oxley. The updated Roll is presented to the congregation at the APCM. Annual Parochial Church Meeting This is the very formal title of our annual meeting and dinner on Sunday April 24 th - the nearest Sunday to St. George s Day. Reports and Finances will be presented and elections held. This year a new Churchwarden needs to be appointed and at least 4 new members are needed for the PCC. This meets about 10 times a year and is where Church policy is made, pastoral issues are discussed, expenditure is agreed and the use of our buildings is approved. Any member of St. George s Church whose name is on the Electoral Roll is able to stand for PCC. Please consider if this is something for you! Nomination forms for PCC are on the book table at the back of Church. Parish Dinner To celebrate our Patronal Festival there ll be the annual dinner on Sunday April 24 th straight after the APCM - about 12.30pm. This year s menu includes soup, cold meats and salad followed by gateaux and coffee. On arrival you ll be offered an aperitif followed by a selection of wines during the meal. All this for just 11 (children 5). Please get your tickets today from Jane Rice-Oxley. Sandra Hewett s mother died last Sunday night. Please pray for the soul of Ivy Dymott and for Sandra, Sarah and Pete in their loss. Cecil Wilman As you will already know, Cecil died just before Easter. His funeral is to take place at St. George s Church on Tuesday April 26 th,, followed by the committal at The Oaks Crematorium. You are very welcome to attend. The Rev. Sandra Edwards retires from her ministry next Sunday. She has been Vicar of Denmead for over ten years and part of the Parish Partnership which includes Waterlooville.
Congratulations to Wendy Clark who in 2016 has been a member of the Mothers Union for 50 years. At the MU Lady Day service last Monday, Wendy was presented with a certificate by the Diocesan President, The Rev. Elizabeth Groves. Thank you to Nikita Ashby for the fabulous embroidered stained glass window. It shows the risen Jesus and she s made it for display in the Church. At the moment you can see it near the statue of Mary. Look is a new activity sheet published by the company which produces the weekly reading sheets. Its intended for children and copies are now being given away each week. You ll find them in both the children s areas. Please make sure all the children in Church get a copy either to use in Church or to take away with them. If you have children at home, you re welcome to take a copy as well. Don t forget that refreshments are served in the Church Hall every Wednesday from 10.30am and every Friday from. Apart from contributing to Church and charity funds, these mornings are also an opportunity to meet other Church members, to enjoy the company of friends and on Fridays to have home-made cakes! Why not bring your family and your friends along and support these mornings? Notice Boards You may have noticed that the glass fronted notice board from the front of Church has gone. It s not been stolen but taken to the Waterlooville Men s Shed to be refurbished. At the same time new posts have been erected on the other side of the Church path. These are to provide a safe place to hang Church and Music Festival banners. Shop at Waitrose Throughout April Waterlooville Music Festival is one of the beneficiaries of the green token scheme. The more tokens placed in the collecting tube, the more funds WMF will receive towards this year s and next year s concerts. Every time you pop into Waitrose, pick up a token and post it in the tube. Of course, if you get your shopping just a few items at a time, you ll be able to post lots of green tokens!
Bloor Homes has distributed a publicity card around the area advertising their new homes on Berewood. The only local point of interest marked is St. George s Church. We ve made it! Music at the Bandstand next Saturday features live music and dancing from The Folk Association of South Hants. The entertainment begins at 11.30am. Over 60s Luncheon Club This is a monthly club run by the Waterlooville Community Association in the Community Centre by ASDAs. It s on the last Friday of every month and costs just 3.50. A Right Royal Fete The Church fete is in two months' time and will have a royal theme, to coincide with the Queen's celebrations. Horndean Amateur Theatrical Society (HATS) will be performing Noël Coward's "Hay Fever", from Thursday 14th to Saturday 16th April at Merchistoun Hall in Horndean.
