The Resurrection of Jesus Christ by Franklin Colossians 1:18 He is also head of the body, the church; and HE IS THE BEGINNING, the first-born from the dead; so that He Himself alone in everything and in every respect might stand first, occupy the chief place and have the PREEMINENCE. (Amplified Bible) HE WAS THE BEGINNING FOR: Man sick for 38 years at pool of Bethesda (John 5:2-17). The paralytic brought to Jesus on a bed (Matthew 9:1-8) Woman with a hemorrhage for 12 years (Matthew 9:20-22). A synagogue official s daughter who had died (Mt. 9:18, 23-26) Two blind men who received their sight (Mt. 9:27-31). A demon possessed man who could not speak (Mt. 9:32-33). Matthew 9:35-36 Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness. Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. HE WAS THE BEGINNING FOR: The ten Lepers that were healed (Luke 17:11-20) A Centurion s servant who was healed (Luke 7:1-10) Widows son raised from the dead (Luke 7:12-15). Lazarus who He raised from the dead (John 11). The man born blind (John 9:1-7). Bartimaeus eyesight restored (Mark 10:46-52). BUT NOW IT WAS FRIDAY Jesus had been ARRESTED. The mob is crying: "CRUCIFY HIM! CRUCIFY HIM!" John 19:1-6, 14-18 THE FIRST 3 HOURS JESUS WAS ON THE CROSS HE WAS THE SACRIFICIAL LAMB OF GOD, Holy and without blemish.

This is The Supreme Example of Love I. His First Words - Forgive Luke 23:34 Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." Love Forgives! Luke 23:35-39 And the people stood by, looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One. And the soldiers also mocked Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine, and saying, "If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself! Now there was also an inscription above Him, "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS." And one of the criminals who were hanged {there} was hurling abuse at Him, saying, "Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!" Love is not provoked. Does not save self, but others. II. Love Never Forsakes, Never Abandons, Always Makes Provision Luke 23:43 Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today YOU WILL BE WITH ME IN PARADISE." III. Love Provides - Takes Care of Others John 19:26-27 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold, your son! Then He said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" And from that hour the disciple took her into his own household. THE LAST 3 HOURS ON THE CROSS JESUS BECAME: SIN FOR US: HE WHO KNEW NO SIN, BECAME SIN FOR US 2 Corinthians 5:21 IV. Love Endures Matthew 27:46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" He became Sin for you and me. And our sin separated HIM from His FATHER for the first time in all Eternity. Isaiah 59:2

V. Love Places the Needs of Others before its Own Needs John 19:28 Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I am thirsty." VI. Love Triumphs - Never Fails - Completes it's Mission, Regardless of Cost John 19:29-30 A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop, and brought it up to His mouth. When Jesus therefore had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And He bowed His head, and gave up His spirit. VII. Love Surrenders to God & Completely Trusts Itself to HIS Loving Hands. Luke 23:46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last. The soldiers therefore came, and broke the legs of the first man, and of the other man who was crucified with Him; but coming to Jesus, when they saw that HE WAS ALREADY DEAD, they did not break His legs; but one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately there came out blood and water. John 19:30, 32-34 Luke 23:46 Luke 23:48-49 And all the crowds who came together for this spectacle, when they observed what had happened, began to return, beating their breasts. And all His acquaintances and the women who accompanied Him from Galilee were standing at a distance, seeing these things. IT WAS OVER HE WAS DEAD - NO MORE HOPE - DEJECTED. The Disciples were Confused / Crying / All Hope was gone / They were fearful and hiding, afraid they would be crucified also. The Soldiers returned to their places, their entertainment was over.

The Priests and Mob were congratulating each other as they had put and end to with this one who was causing their religion problems and exposing their evil. The demons were having a hellish celebration as they thought their evil had won a great victory of what was right and good. (A Poem) Satan watched in hopeful glee, - as the Son of God was led toward Calvary. With great delight the demons see - their un-touchable enemy nailed to a tree. Satan's assurance of victory rose higher still; When to his amazement, the Righteous One, with sin was filled. And Death boldly took hold of Life and moved in for the kill. The Creator was dying, darkness and chaos covered His work. The earth was shaking, rocks were breaking and satan watched with a smirk. Yet again, Death reigned supreme, empowered by sin, they were a formidable team. As the demons squeled in delight, satan's pride soared to new heights. IT WAS FRIDAY, IT WAS OVER. Satan, Sin and Death had seemingly Won. SATURDAY, The Sabbath. All Was Quiet Disciples were Hiding for Fear. As They whispered about what they had seen... then they Remembered the words Jesus had said: On The THIRD DAY I Will be RAISED FROM THE DEAD MAYBE.... there is a small glimmer of hope for tomorrow.....

SUNDAY - RESURRECTION DAY CAME! The Earth began to SHAKE.... FEAR pierces the demons The GLORY of the Presence of God FILLS the tomb. It was so powerful that surrounding tombs were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised and walked the streets of Jerusalem and appeared to many. (Matthew 27:51-53) And He appeared to the women that came to the tomb (Luke 24:5-6) The two on the road to Emmaus (33-34). He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles (1Cor.15:5-7). HE HAS RISEN!! JESUS CHRIST IS ALIVE SIN WAS Officially and Legally FORGIVEN! SIN, the Power of Death was REMOVED! THE WAGES OF SIN Had Been PAID THE POWER Of DEATH Was BROKEN - It Could No Longer HOLD the SON of GOD! DEATH WAS DEFEATED. The Forgiveness of Sin was the DEATH of DEATH. SATAN WAS NOW POWERLESS

JESUS CHRIST WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD HE WAS ALIVE! THEY EXPERIENCED THE NEW BEGINNING - ON RESURRECTION DAY John 20:19-23 So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, Peace be with you. And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again, Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you. And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. The Disciples were BORN AGAIN on Resurrection Day! And we all can be BORN AGAIN with Resurrection Life, with Eternal Life, when we believe and receive Jesus Christ. John 11:25-26 I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?" THE DISCIPLES PREACHED THE RESURRECTION everywhere they went: Acts 2:24; 3:15; 4:2; Romans 1:4; 10:9 HE IS THE ALPHA and the OMEGA. HE Is The BEGINNING of LIFE and He is the ENDING of DEATH!

Therefore, just as through ONE MAN sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned. Romans 5:12 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:22 ADAM IS THE ENDING - JESUS CHRIST IS THE BEGINNING! 1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In JESUS CHRIST We Have A NEW BEGINNING. WE CAN BE BORN AGAIN! JESUS IS OUR BEGINNING! Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as CHRIST WAS RAISED UP FROM THE DEAD BY THE GLORY OF THE FATHER, even so WE ALSO should walk IN NEWNESS OF LIFE. Romans 6:4 JESUS is OUR BEGINNING: For All Eternity: Colossians 1:18 He is also head of the body, the church; and HE IS THE BEGINNING, the first-born from the dead; so that HE HIMSELF ALONE, IN EVERYTHING AND IN EVERY RESPECT, MIGHT OCCUPY THE CHIEF PLACE, STAND FIRST, AND HAVE THE PREEMINENCE. Revelation 1:8 I AM the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, THE ALMIGHTY."
