Time to think about how many boxes you will fill this year! Our goal this year is 50 boxes for this wonderful ministry. If you are unfamiliar with Operation Christmas Child, here is a description from their website. Every year, Operation Christmas Child delivers millions of shoebox gifts to children around the world, shining the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to children affected by war, poverty, disease and natural disaster. Shoebox gifts are fueled by the power of prayer, bringing Good News and Great Joy to the ends of the earth! Shoeboxes are available on the back table in the sanctuary. Pick up one, two, or as many as you want to fill. The brochure with your box has all the information you will need to fill up your box. Please remember that each box you fill must have $7.00 in it for shipping cost. Make your check out to Samaritan s Purse, and note on the memo line that the donation is for Operation Christmas Child. Those members of the church whose names are entered into nomination should be considered on the basis of Biblical and spiritual qualities as described in I Timothy 3:8-13 and Acts 6:1-6. Those who are eligible and receive the most nominations will be approached by members of the existing Deacon Fellowship and asked to pray about their willingness to serve if elected. The term of service is three years (2017-2019). At the next meeting of the Deacon Fellowship, a slate of nominees will be finalized. Voting then will be by ballot at a scheduled Business Meeting. No nominations will be accepted from the floor. Votes will be tallied by the Chair of the Deacon Fellowship and the Pastor. An announcement of election results will be shared no later than the following Sunday. Deacons currently on the active Deacon Fellowship should not be included in your nomination since they will be serving again next year or will be rotating off the active fellowship and are not eligible to serve again for at least one year.
