TRUNK OR TREAT There are going to be a ton of kids out on October 31 st going house to house on McCormick collecting candy. What a wonderful opportunity to give the gospel truth out as well. That s the goal of decorating your trunk and handing out little packets of candy with a small kid-friendly track. Join us by volunteering to show up with the trunk of your car decorated to hand out God s sweet grace to all the little children. To do this we need at the very least five (5) people to volunteer. Join us in spreading the gospel. Quarterly business meeting Sunday, October 16, 2016 A motion will be made at the October quarterly business meeting to hire Seatta Wilhelm and Ashley Smith as temporary part-time employees for the church secretary position while Debbie O Meara will not be able to fulfill the responsibility for several weeks. Further discussion will be at the business meeting. Fellowship Luncheon today following the morning worship service! All are welcome! Luncheon in King Memorial Fellowship Hall It is Shoe Box time! Time to think about how many boxes you will fill this year! Our goal this year is 50 boxes for this wonderful ministry. If you are unfamiliar with Operation Christmas Child, here is a description from their website. Every year, Operation Christmas Child delivers millions of shoebox gifts to children around the world, shining the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to children affected by war, poverty, disease and natural disaster. Shoebox gifts are fueled by the power of prayer, bringing Good News and Great Joy to the ends of the earth! Shoeboxes are available on the back table in the sanctuary. Pick up one, two, or as many as you want to fill. The brochure with your box has all the information you will need to fill up your box. Please remember that each box you fill must have $7.00 in it for shipping cost. Make your check out to Samaritan s Purse, and note on the memo line that the donation is for Operation Christmas Child. DEADLINE FOR SHOE BOXES: NOVEMBER 13, 2016 Guest Speaker Sunday, October 23, 2016 On Sunday, October 23 rd, we will be having a special guest leading us in the morning worship service. Reverend Roslyn C. Thomas from First Baptist Church in Clifton Forge, VA will be here to fellowship with us while Pastor Nathan will be leading and fellowshipping with the First Baptist congregation. Rev. Thomas is a dynamic and anointed woman of God who does everything to the glory of God and she believes the work that God has begun in her He will perform until the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)

NOMINATING COMMITTEE MEETING The Nominating Committee will meet on Monday, October 10 th at 6:30 pm. All members and those wishing to volunteer to be on a committee are asked to attend this important meeting to prepare for the Quarterly Business meeting on Sunday, October 16 th. DEACON NOMINATIONS: (2017-2019) Nominations for the office of Deacon are received from members of the congregation each year. Those members of the church whose names are entered into nomination should be considered on the basis of Biblical and spiritual qualities as described in I Timothy 3:8-13 and Acts 6:1-6. Those who are eligible and receive the most nominations will be approached by members of the existing Deacon Fellowship and asked to pray about their willingness to serve if elected. The term of service is three years (2017-2019). At the next meeting of the Deacon Fellowship, a slate of nominees will be finalized. Voting then will be by ballot at a scheduled Business Meeting. No nominations will be accepted from the floor. Votes will be tallied by the Chair of the Deacon Fellowship and the Pastor. An announcement of election results will be shared no later than the following Sunday. Deacons currently on the active Deacon Fellowship should not be included in your nomination since they will be serving again next year or will be rotating off the active fellowship and are not eligible to serve again for at least one year. The current Deacons who cannot be nominated are: Clyde Crissman, Gina Dobbs, Al Jackson, Ada Mattox, Susan Meyer, Tondalaya VanLear, Sterling Walker and Ken Wham. You may nominate up to 6 candidates.
