13th Sunday In Ordinary Time July 1, 2018 FR. PHIL Reflec ons on the 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time RECOMMENDED READINGS Why Go to Church? The Drama of the Eucharist by Timothy Radcliffe, Con nuum New York, New York 2008. The Cure D Ars Today St. John Vianney, by George William Rutler, Igna us Press, San Francisco, 1988 Cycle B Each day we hear of sadness, pain and illness. Some mes it happens to our family members, our friends and even us. These and other situa ons can make us feel helpless. Some mes the situa on becomes even harder when we place limits upon ourselves because of past experiences, or misunderstood expecta ons. If we have ever been there these readings today speak to us extra powerfully. What wonderfully powerful events are proclaimed in the Gospel. Jesus leads people from a place of despera on to a place of faith. He tells us not to be afraid, but to have faith. Encounters with Jesus always change people and situa ons. Jesus invites us and even challenges us to see the li le miracles that happen every day in our lives because of God s love for us. The Good News of Jesus life and mission is that suffering and death are not hopeless situa ons but out of them come deeper life. We need faith and trust in Jesus as when we turn to Jesus we discover that all kinds of things are possible. JOIN THE CLUB!
