Interrupted by Hope: Sunday mornings between the two services, roughly 8:45 to 9:45 am - December 4, 11 and 18 Facilitated discussion of short video clips by great Christian teachers led by Joan McGilvray and Kathryn Calame in the Parish Hall Grab a cup of coffee, a bite to eat, take a seat and see what you think. and An Introduction to Liturgy and the Sacred Meaning of Time - Join Father Matt for two Wednesday evenings in the Parish Hall December 7 and 14 from 7 to 8:30 pm Liturgy is not just what we do on Sunday morning in church. It is sacramental ritual directed toward apprehending the eternal in the transient, the inward Spirit in the outward act. Come learn more about how well-designed and God-directed rituals help fill time and space with meaning and the presence of God. We will also look at the church calendar and its various seasons and their meanings, discovering how the cycles of nature and sacred history weave together each year. Finally, we will design together parts of the liturgy that we will use in Epiphany. Christmas Pageant - Sunday, December 18 at 4 p.m.: The pageant is being co-directed by Dawn Galente, Jonathan Shanks and some members of the youth group. All children are welcome to participate. Following the pageant, there will be a special childrens coffee hour with hot chocolate, cider, donuts and cookies. Come celebrate the season and bring friends! A Change of Guard : Our Parish Secretary, Maria Galli is retiring after almost 30 years of faithful service. This will be the last time she prepares our Christmas leaflets, orders our supplies, enters the accounts, sets the office in order. So sometime this December make it a point to stop by the office and tell her how much you appreciate her contribution to this place and people. Thank you, Maria, with all our heart, for your faithful service!
Therefore, we are reconfiguring the parish administration position. The new part-time position of office manager/communications coordinator will handle administration, communication and worship preparation responsibilities. Financial administration will be handled by our Facilities and Financial Administrator David Swift. Our new office manager and communications coordinator is Cindy Schmoke. Cindy may be familiar to you from her work as office manager for local dentists, Drs. Nicoletti and Feit. She will take those organizational skills and add them to her prior experience of running a large religious education program at St Martin de Porres. She loves small children and dogs good thing for Zoe! Cindy will be working with Maria for a week or two in December and then taking over the reins in January. Let s all make her feel welcome. It's an annual conference for rural women and their allies, sponsored by Rural and Migrant Ministry. We sent two EPIC members last year, and will be sending more this year as well. Would you like to join them? The Destiny Assembly, now in it's 11th year, is a unique opportunity for rural women isolated by language, culture, time, distance, and lack of resources to connect and gain strength from one another, their allies, and workshop leaders as they develop strategies for change through education. A key component of the Assembly is the welcoming of allies from cities, suburbs, agencies, unions and universities: women whose mission coincides with the empowerment of rural women. Women and girls are encouraged to develop their voices and share their stories. See more at: http://ruralmigrantministry.org/en/destiny-assembly. If you'd like to join the Millbrook delegation, please contact Abby at abby@epicjustice.org. Thank you! Coins for Change: Save your spare change during Advent and bring to church on December 18. We will have coins counted at the bank and send to Rural & Migrant Ministry to help with their work with migrant farmworkers.
Caregivers Support Group every Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Lunch Box last Sunday of each month. Let John Lacey (lacey_clan@msn.com) know if you are willing to serve.
