ST. PATRICK s SCHOOL December 2017 Taber, Alberta Merry Christmas Everyone!! This week we light the candle of Hope on the Advent wreath. This is my favorite candle because hope is what brings light to this world; hope that we will find peace in our own hearts, hope that we will have the best Christmas yet, hope that things will get better or hope that things will slow down. Wherever your hope resides, it is in this state of spirit that you find strength to move on and find joy, love and peace in your life. Here is my Hope Wish List for you: 1. I hope you find peace in your homes this Christmas. 2. I hope you pray this Christmas and keep Christ the Reason for the Season 3. I hope you know that you are the most important person to your child. 4. I hope you feel love and appreciation. 5. I hope you see the beauty of family and friends. Merry Christmas Everyone! December is upon us and with December comes Advent. We prepare our hearts and minds for the coming of the Lord. It is easy to forget in the hustle and bustle of getting ready for Christmas to take the time to focus on the themes set out each week. Faith: Know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Hope: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Joy: Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Love: Jesus said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. (based on https://www.reformedworship.org/article/september-1993/circle-light-four-themes-use-advent-wreath ) Take the time this holiday season to find Jesus in your heart and let him fill your days as you busily prepare for His coming. Mrs. Calder Well, Winter is Upon Us!! Outside recess is a great learning break for students and provides them with some fresh air. We try to have outside recess as much as possible if the weather allows. Just a reminder that our rule is that we only stay inside at recess if the weather feels colder than 20 degrees. So please, please make sure your child comes to school prepared for some outside fun. If your child forgets their gloves or toque please tell them to come to the office and we will find them something warm to wear.

School Council News Following the Christmas Mass on Thursday, Dec. 21st, School Council is hosting its annual Christmas Turkey Dinner for the students and staff of St. Patrick s. If you would like to volunteer to help with the turkey dinner, please add your name to the sign up sheet inside the front doors of the school. We welcome our parents to join our vibrant School Council, without whom, many of St. Patrick s activities would not happen. For all those parents interested or curious about School Council, our next school meeting is January 15th at 3:30 at the school. Children are welcome! Thank you to everyone that participated in our school fundraiser. The funds raised with this year s Farm to Table fundraiser have been lower than in previous years. Proceeds go to field trips, gymnastics, scientists in schools, bussing for skating, etc. In order to sustain these projects for this year we may need to supplement with another fundraiser. We welcome parent feedback on this. Please make sure your contact information and emergency contacts are up to date in case your child is sick or gets hurt and we need to get ahold of you. We have many ways for you to stay connected with us.
