He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Psalm 40:3 THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 6, 2017 RICKY'S COMMUNICATION NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS SANCTUARY CHOIR REHEARSAL NOVEMBER 8 CHURCH ORCHESTRA REHEARSAL NOVEMBER 12 ANNOUNCEMENTS MUSIC FOR SUNDAY RICKY'SCOMMUNICATION WONDERFUL REHEARSAL Last night s Christmas rehearsal was absolutely great! You all did an outstanding job and I can see wonderful signs of very significant progress. Thank you for your commitment and hard work. I am so excited about the opportunity we have to share the gospel message of God s gift of His Son to the world. Remember that we will continue working on several Christmas pieces in our Wednesday night rehearsals as well as our Sunday music and our next Christmas music only rehearsal will be the Wednesday night following Thanksgiving, November 29. BLESSING OF THE HILL SUNDAY This Sunday morning, November 12, will be our church s emphasis on Western Kentucky University and most of the music Sunday morning will be led by John Beach and several of our WKU students. The choir will be singing the call to worship, Jesus Saves, accompanied by Bryson Richey on piano as well as the students from WKU on rhythm instruments. After the call to worship, the choir and congregation will sing In Christ Alone with the band. During the welcome and prayer, the choir will slip out of the choir loft to move into the congregation and the student band will lead the remainder of the music for the service. We will not be wearing robes Sunday morning and I would encourage you to wear some red for the day. Let s serve as a great encouragement to our students and faculty and staff of WKU even as we gather to worship. It is going to be a great day!

ANDREA NANCE Most of you know by now that Andrea is going to be out for a bit as she is recuperating from some unexpected surgery this past weekend. I know that she would appreciate your prayers for her recovery and I know you will pray expectantly that the Lord will care for her and bring healing to her. She is such a vital part of who we are as a choir and music ministry staff and we want her to have the time she needs to regain her strength. We are grateful for the gift she is both in spirit and in talent and it is a privilege to lift her up to the Lord together. In Andrea s absence, Kimmy Stofer has agreed to fill in at the piano until Andrea is able to return. We are grateful for Kimmy s availability and for her gifts as she helps us fill some very big shoes. Join me in welcoming Kimmy to rehearsal Wednesday night. ORCHESTRA We are back in rehearsal this coming Sunday morning in the Choir Room. I hope you all will be in place at 8:45 a.m. as we work on music for December and beyond. HANDBELLS Great job this past Sunday. Please pray for our bell choir as they ring Saturday, November 18, and for the mixed ensemble of One Voice and Men of Praise as they sing that same day for the Gingerbread Festival at SKYPAC. This is a wonderful opportunity for community involvement and as an expression of our Christian witness. THE SCOTT SHEPHERD FAMILY in Concert You will remember the Shepherd Family who played and sang for us at Choir Retreat back in August. They will be here Friday night, November 10, performing a concert for the Hayward Brown Banquet. The banquet will be in the Social Center at 6:00 p.m. and the concert will begin in the sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. Cost for the concert alone is $5 at the door and the concert is open to the public. Many of you may want to hear them again. And if you did not get to hear them at choir retreat, this will be a wonderful opportunity to hear some beautiful and inspiring music from a talented family using piano, guitar, violin, viola, cello, and mandolin and a variety of styles that will speak to your spirit. Scott is the new worship and music specialist with the Tennessee Baptist Convention and he and his wife, Tracy, have 4 children who play sing and compose. Their children are Jordan (15), Iris (12), Gideon (10) and Grace (7). They are a treat and I would love for you experience the Shepherd Family once again. DRESS FOR THE CHRISTMAS PRESENTATION? Ladies Black dress pants and black dress shirt or Black dress (at least knee length) or Black Skirt (at least knee length) and Black top Men Black Tuxedo or Black Suit with black tie or Black dress pants and black dress shirt (I think several of our men are campaigning for the black shirt and black pants) See you in rehearsals, Ricky Clark Minister of Music
