HOW TO MAKE A SANWICH FOR THE HOMELESS First, take two slices of bread, and then spread peanut butter on one slice and jelly on the other. Next, place the two slices together and just like that you have a sandwich! Of course, if you like, you may use meat and cheese instead of peanut butter and jelly. How about making some sandwiches for THE HOMELESS this Thanksgiving? Sandwiches will be taken to Martha's Table in DC, on Sunday, November 23, for distribution to the homeless in the District. Sandwiches should be left in the refrigerator in the church kitchen by 11:30 on Sunday morning and clearly marked for Martha's Table or the homeless. CHURCH DIRECTORY Befor Christmas, we will be printing a church directory of contact information for our members and constituents. (A constituent is someone who has been regularly attending our services but who has not formally become a member.) We include the mailing address, home phone, cell phones and email addresses for each member of the family if we have that information. If you DO NOT want any of this information to be made available to our congregation or if you suspect that we don't have this information, please call (301-249-2230) or email (secretary@mtoak.org) the church office to let your wishes be made known. Deadline for corrections is December 3, 2014

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL The adult Sunday school class will begin a new DVD study series on December 7. The class meets from 10:15 AM to 11:30 AM in Room 202, across from the nursery. All are welcome to attend. The title of the new study series is The Attributes of God by Dr. Steven Lawson. The following is a brief summary: Who Does God Say That He Is? Misconceptions about God abound. But they don t have to. God has revealed His character in Scripture, illuminating the attributes that define Him. While we, being finite creatures, can never truly comprehend everything that God is, we should study what He Himself has said. In this teaching series, The Attributes of God, Ligonier Teaching Fellow Dr. Steven Lawson articulates a biblical understanding of divine attributes and explores how a right understanding of God can affect every aspect of our lives. Each lecture in this DVD series is 23 minutes. A free study guide will be provided and will be used for class discussion. Questions: Contact Jerry Nelson, 301-464-0461 Lectures in this teaching series: 1. Introduction to the Attributes of God 2. The Aseity (self-existence) of God 3. The Spirituality of God 4. The Sovereignty of God 5. The Holiness of God 6. The Omnipresence of God 7. The Omniscience of God 8. The Omnipotence of God 9. The Immutability of God 10. The Truthfulness of God 11. The Wisdom of God 12. The Goodness of God 13. The Grace of God 14. The Love of God 15. The Foreknowledge of God 16. The Wrath of God Dr. Steven J. Lawson Steven J. Lawson is founder and president of OnePassion Ministries, a ministry designed to bring about biblical reformation in the church today, and former senior pastor of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church in Mobile, Ala. He has served as a pastor in Arkansas and Alabama for twenty-five years and is author of many books, including The Evangelistic Zeal of George Whitefield and In It to Win It: Pursuing Victory in the One Race That Really Counts. He is a teaching fellow for and serves on the board of Ligonier Ministries and the Ligonier Academy of Biblical and Theological Studies, and is professor of preaching at The Master s Seminary.
