Opportunities to Serve

Administrative Services Church Office Volunteer Serve as a receptionist in the church office on a regular basis. Responsibilities include receiving guests, directing phone calls to the proper person, light computer use, and miscellaneous clerical duties. Church Hostess Volunteer your services to help coordinate church-wide events, provide inventory control of kitchen and event supplies, linens, etc. Contact Kim Faucette (919-573-5454 ext 230). Contribution Counters Serve on a rotating team to count offerings and gifts to the church. Count one Sunday per month. Note: this position is for church members only. Contact Colton Mathews (919-695-2671). Facilities Planning Serve on the committee which evaluates space usage for Sunday School, Worship and other ministries of CBC; you would also be involved with planning future expansion and new building projects. Hospitality and Special Events Join others in the planning and implementation of many special events at Christ Baptist Church such as Wednesday night fellowship dinners, the church anniversary celebration and church-wide conferences and seminars. Interior Décor Services Assist in maintaining a pleasant interior of the church by giving input regarding color selections and placing silk trees, plants and flower arrangements in appropriate areas, especially seasonally, and occasionally for special events. Contact Sandy Maccioli (919-522-8023). Maintenance Help with ongoing special projects that involve occasional carpentry, painting and general upkeep of the facility. Use your skills for the Lord. Web Services Volunteer your services in assisting the church to develop uses of the Internet for ministry, communications, information, registration for events, etc. Contact Jesse Knox (919-573-5454 ext 241). Adult Bible Study Classes Contact Phil Medlin (919-573-5454 ext 226). Care Group Leaders Help create an environment of encouragement, friendship and caring among class members. Care group leaders plan class fellowships and other activities. Outreach Leaders Promote interest and willingness to bring unbelievers and non-churched people to class. Maintain contact with class prospects and visitors. Prayer Leaders Encourage members to pray for each other and organize prayer chains for urgent requests. Prayer leaders serve as liaison for corporate prayer ministry. 3

Teachers Teachers lead the class in study of the Scriptures through teaching a balanced Christian curriculum to adults. Teachers must be church members. Preschool and Children s Ministries Contact Hillary Sebald (919-573-5454 ext 245). Childcare (Volunteer and Paid) Provide childcare for children whose parents are in various church activities. Opportunities are currently available on Sunday and Wednesday evenings and several weekday mornings. Background checks are required. Fall Festival Assist in planning and implementing our annual family festival for all ages in October. Lots of help needed for this! Preschool and Children s Bible Study Teachers and Helpers Teach or assist one hour each Sunday using a biblically based curriculum and attend periodic planning sessions. Teachers must be church members; non-church members may assist. Vacation Bible School Teach or assist with Vacation Bible School, including Bible stories and crafts, one week during the summer, using a biblically based curriculum. Background checks are required. 4

AWANA Ministry Teach, assist or be involved as a worker with children each Sunday evening (September May) using the AWANA curriculum. Help children hide the Word of God in their hearts as they memorize Scripture and participate in fun activities. Contact Bobby Puryear (919-271-3691). Background checks are required. College and Young Adults Contact Phil Medlin (919-573-5454 ext 226). There are thousands of college students in the Triangle area and even more young professional adults. Help minister to these students and young adults by having them over for a meal in your home, taking part in our leadership team, planning fellowships, praying for a specific student, or teaching a small group Bible study. Communications Services Contact Kim Faucette (919-573-5454 ext 230). Writing/Editorial Team Help communicate the message of Christ Baptist history and ministry through documents and publications. We also need feature writers for the monthly Christ Baptist Church newsletter. Photographers We need people to photograph new members for our directory and at special events for other publications and archiving purposes. 5

Evangelism Contact Phil Medlin (919-573-5454 ext. 226). Outreach Events Planning Help coordinate and implement outreach events that will impact friends, family and co-workers with the Gospel. Evangelism Team Help follow up with all the visitors that God brings to Christ Baptist Church. Opportunities to serve include helping at Sunday guest reception, calling visitors, sending letters, setting appointments and making home visits. Prison Ministry Take the Gospel message to the incarcerated of our community. The spiritual hunger in our prisons is great, and there is always a need for more team members. Men s Leadership Breakfast and Bible Study Help organize and staff a men s on-going leadership breakfast and study We need team members for cooking, set-up, breakdown, table hosts, greeters and prayer. Missions Ministry Contact Phil Medlin (919-573-5454 ext 226). Missions Opportunities During the year, there will be several mission trips to choose from for you and your family. Each of us has been given a gift by God to use, and there is a trip that will be just right for you. Teens are encouraged to participate! 6

Missions Festival Team Help is needed with ministry special events, registration, escorting and housing our missionaries, and much more. Missions Team With the ever-changing face of ministry, communication is of vital importance to our Missions Ministry. There are three areas where you could utilize your gifts and talents for the mission teams: prayer, training and publicity. Music Contact Aaron Jackson (919-573-5454, ext. 232). Worship Choir (Adults) Participate on a year-round basis to provide music for worship services and special presentations. Rehearsals are held weekly. Childcare will be provided as necessary. You do not need to be a church member to participate in the Worship Choir. Adoration Choir (Students) Assistants with music or education backgrounds to help directors with middle and high school youth in rehearsals and presentations. Holy Notes Children s Choir Directors are needed with music or education backgrounds. Helpers are needed to assist directors. Contact Hillary Sebald (919-573-5454 ext. 245) or Aaron Jackson (919-573-5454 ext. 232). Orchestra Support a variety of weekly worship services and special presentations. Requires a minimum of high school playing experience. Childcare is provided as needed. 7

Prayer Contact Jerry or Rita Anderson (919-772-3975). At Home Intercessors For those who are unable to come to the church to pray in the Upper Room, you can receive the requests at home via e-mail. Requests are sent from the Prayer Ministry each week and you decide when you can pray through them. Training is provided. You must be a church member and attend training to participate. Boiler Room Prayer Undergird in prayer the ministries of Christ Baptist Church, while they are being held on Sunday mornings. Intercessors pray for the church leadership, teachers, and all those participating and supporting the worship service and Sunday School classes. Upper Room Prayer Become an Upper Room prayer intercessor by committing to pray at the church for one hour each week for specific requests coming to the Upper Room via prayer cards and telephone calls. Training is provided. You must be a church member and attend training to participate. Shepherding Ministries Contact Kim Faucette (919-573-5454 ext 230). Benevolence Team Do you have a heart for those less fortunate? Join other Christ Baptist members to work with those who have pressing financial assistance needs for food, utilities, clothing and other concerns. You must be a church member to be a part of the Benevolence Team. 8

Hospital Visitation Help minister to families in the congregation through hospital visitation and home follow-up. Youth Ministry Contact Andy Duke (919-573-5454 ext. 235). Help our students mature in their relationship with Christ. Volunteers are needed on Sunday morning and evening, and other times during the week for special activities. You must be a church member to teach. Background checks are required. Women s Ministry Contact Christy Dixon (christydixon@me.com). Become involved in our women s ministry by serving on one of our guilds: Bereavement (Martha s Heart), Doorstep Dinner, Encouragement, Hospitality, Mission Projects (Hands in Service), New Member, W.E.L.L. (speakers), Worship Center Décor. Worship Support Audio/Video Need individuals to serve on the tech team to ensure quality audio amplification and recording of Sunday worship, and to operate presentation software and/or video equipment. Coffee Station Sunday morning Workers are needed to service the Coffee Stations, upper level near the kitchen and on the lower level. Contact Sue Kennedy (919-846-9239). Greeters (inside) We want to welcome folks to Christ Baptist with the warmth of God s love that comes from our heart. You can help prepare a heart for the seed of the Word. We need men and women ages 18 and older to help as greeters at all services. Contact Carolyn Hixon (919-662-9723). Lord s Supper Preparation Prepare elements for the Lord s Supper, held every other month on Sunday morning. Help coordinate and clean up. Contact Steve Weiandt (919-787-1511). Parking Lot Greeters (outside) Begin someone s visit to Christ Baptist with a warm welcome and courteous guidance to a parking space. Remember, if they can t park, they won t stay. Opportunities for service in this vital area of ministry are needed year-round. Contact Kim Faucette (919-573-5454). Ushers Please consider helping a guest feel welcome by assisting them in locating a seat for worship. Assist with collecting the tithes and offerings. We need male church members ages 18 and older to serve at all services. Contact Bryce Cummings (919-789-8997). Welcome Desk Personnel How do I get to where I need to be? Where is the nursery? Do you have classes for? Guests sometimes need information and directions, and that s what you will provide. We need workers 18 and older at all services. Contact Carolyn Hixon (919-662-9723). 10

Care Ministries Contact Bradley Buie (919-847-0377) or Mark Hunsinger (919-607-0061). DivorceCare, DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K), GriefShare, Single and Parenting These are important outreach opportunities that provide tools to help those in need of emotional support through Biblical guidance. We need greeters, group facilitators, people who can make or serve snacks, people who will commit to pray for those who attend. Training is provided! All sessions of our Care Ministries meet on Tuesday evenings. 11
