April 27 2018 C O N C O R D I A L U T H E R A N S C H O O L Volume 19, Issue 32 Concordia Lutheran School provides a Christ-centered, academically challenging education to equip students for lifelong discipleship. Notes from Mr. Thompson: Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Alleluia! He has risen! He has risen indeed! Alleluia! He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Matthew 28:6 Grace and peace to you and your family from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! Confirmation A time to celebrate over the next three weekends several of our Jr. High students will be Confirmed in at our association congregations Redeemer April 29 th, 10:45 A.M. ; Trinity May 6 th, 10:45 A.M. ; Mt. Calvary May 27 th, 10:45 A.M. The purpose of confirmation is to help confirmands Personally confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and take personal ownership in declaring, by the power of the Holy Spirit, their own allegiance to Christ; Eagerly explore the awesomeness of God and the mysteries of faith; Identify themselves as members, as a unique and special part of the body of Christ, as Lutheran and members of a local congregation. Regularly participate in public worship and the reception of holy communion, engage in personal and group Bible study and its application to life, strive to lead God-pleasing lives and offer services to God by serving others; Celebrate the relationships that they have with God as their personal God who loves them graciously, their pastor and other confirmation staff people, their peers participating in the confirmation process, their family and other members of their congregation. The Rite of Confirmation At the conclusion of confirmation instruction, young persons traditionally make a public profession of their faith in a public ceremony. The rite of confirmation is a time of celebration for the congregation as it receives the confession of these young people and affirms and encourages them in the continuation of their faith journey. The congregation should be overflowing with praise to God for the gift of these young people. These are saints of God marking a significant milestone in their personal and spiritual lives. It is a time for the congregation (together with all the company of heaven) to explode in joyous celebration! Missions May Service Project It is hard to believe that May is right around the corner, and so is our last mission project. Our donations and offerings for the month of May will be going to Trinity Church s food pantry. The summer is a difficult time for the children who rely on their schools for their breakfasts and lunches. Our food donations are going to focus on easy and healthy foods that children can eat and/or make themselves. To make sure we get a good variety, each grade level will donate different items. You are still welcome to donate items that are not assigned to you. Cans of vegetables are always needed and welcomed! If you have not used your Thrivent Funds and wanted to donate them to this project, it would be greatly appreciated. Kindergarten boxes of granola bars First grade boxes of individual snacks Second grade can of fruit or smaller fruit cups Third grade jars of peanut butter Fourth grade jars of peanut butter Fifth and sixth grades- PLASTIC containers of jelly Seventh and eighth grade individual servings of Mac and Cheese Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
