Church Staff Retreat - The entire staff will be on a retreat from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 19. The office will be open and Priscilla Jansma will be answering phones from 8:00 am - noon, and Kelli Bartlett will be in the office from 12:30-4:00 pm. Birthday Calendar - The yearly birthday calendar will be coming out soon! Don t forget to check the table at the far end of the fellowship hall to make sure we have the correct dates for all of the birthdays and anniversaries in your family. Today is the last day to make any corrections. Thank you! Today, all newly elected elders and deacons are invited to the east side of the youth room between morning services - 9:45-10:30 - for consistory orientation. This will be led by members of the Vision Administration team. Starting January 7, we will be launching RightNow Media. With this launch, every family in our congregation will have access to a huge library of biblical content. Any member with an email address in the directory will be receiving an invitation to create your own RightNow Media account, and be given instant access to the thousands of biblically-based resources available. Stay tuned! Poinsettias - Thank you to everyone who ordered poinsettias! We would also like to remember Rob Vander Broek, Alma Vander Broek, and Jake Foreman who have had poinsettias purchased in their memory. The cost for poinsettias is $12 and can be paid at the church office. Please pay before December 24, as poinsettias will be available for pick up after the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. If you want to write or send a card this season to our shut-ins, addresses are in a green box at the information center.

Practice Schedule for Christmas Program - Dec. 17 9:35-10:35 am: 3 year olds-kindergarten - Meet in room 9 1st-5th grade - Meet in multipurpose room 4:30 pm - 5th Graders - Meet in the Fireside room 4:40 pm - 3 year olds-kindergarten - Meet in room 9 4:40 pm - 1st-4th grade - Meet in multipurpose room 5:00 pm - Christmas Program Christmas Program Reminder that there will be no Sunday School on December 24 & 31. Sunday School will begin again on January 7. There will also be no Pioneer Club on December 20 or 27. Ireton Christian School will hosting a soup supper and Christmas candy/ cookie walk on December 18, 2017. Serving will be from 5-7 PM at the gym. The menu will include chili, potato, and chicken soups, as well as tavern, coneys, and hot dogs. Desserts will include pie and ice cream. There will be a free will donation. Save the date! Ireton Christian School will be hosting its 2nd annual ice fishing tournament on January 20, 2018 at Emerson Bay on West Lake Okoboji. More details and information to come on the school website www.iretonchristianschool.com

Church Family Prayer Prayer Concerns: Please be in prayer for Rod Kluis as he will be having total knee replacement surgery on Tuesday, December 19. Please pray that the surgery goes well and that he may have a smooth recovery. Continue to remember Bryan Van Gelder in your prayers. He will be having 5 day chemo treatments once a month through April. Please remember him and his family during this time. Please keep Jonathan Hathaway in your prayers as he broke his arm. Pray for continued healing for him. Please keep Kimi Leusink s dad, Glenn Fuller, in your prayers as he has been diagnosed with amyloid and lymphoma in his kidneys. Pray for him and his family during this time. Continue to remember Brent De Kok in your prayers. He had his last 5 day chemo treatment this past week. He will be going in for another PET scan in a month or so. Please continue to pray for Brent, Don, & Sue during this time. Keep Pam De Haan in your prayers as she had exploratory surgery this past week. Pray for her and Evan as they await results. Sympathy: We extend our sympathy to Alice Vander Broek and family in the passing of Robert Vander Broek. A funeral service was held at MRC on Thursday, December 14. And we continue to remember Alison Lenters and Ryan Palsma in our prayers. ************************************************************************* December Benevolence Feature Sioux County Community Services offers assistance to low income residents of Sioux County who are experiencing financial difficulty through no fault of their own, and have no other avenue of support through relatives, government programs, or other public or private resources. Jr. GAP Ministries Schedule: December 20 & 27 - NO JR. GAP - CHRISTMAS BREAK January 3 - Return to Jr. GAP Lunch: Jan. 3 - Parker Vander Zwaag, Jordan Van Den Hul, Jaylee Kamerman ANNOUNCEMENTS: Middle School Retreat 2018 - April 13-15 - Middle School Retreat sign up will be coming up when we return back to Jr. GAP on January 3! The theme this year is BELOVED. The cost per student will be $100. If the cost is an obstacle in any way, please contact a youth leader or Jon Eveland and we will help you out. We want to make sure that every student has an opportunity to attend this transformational weekend! More information on online sign up will be coming your way soon. Below is a description of the Middle School Retreat: Middle School Retreat is a FUN weekend for Middle School Students and their adult leaders! The MSR will be at Hidden Acres Christian Center in Dayton, IA (about 1/2 hour south of Fort Dodge). The synod partners with Northwestern College students to plan an AWESOME weekend of worship, large group sessions, small groups, youth group time, and of course, recreation and games! **************************************************************************************** Wednesday Night Student Worship! Who: Jr. GAP & Sr. High students and leaders What: A time of prayer, song, and renewal When: Wednesday, January 3 from 6:15-6:40 pm Where: The Refuge Jr. GAP & Sr. High - VOLUNTEERS - Jr. GAP & Sr. High students needed for the Christmas Eve Candle Light Service. We need volunteers to help hand out candles at the doors, as well as a group of students to help at the beginning of the service with the opening song. We would love to have you be a part of this! If you are helping, we will do a brief run through immediately after 1st service TODAY in the sanctuary. **************************************************************************************** Sr. High Ministries Schedule: December 20 & 27 - NO SR. HIGH - CHRISTMAS BREAK January 3 - Return to Sr. High Lunch: January 3 - Brittany Broderick, Brooke De Jong, Edyn Dekkers ANNOUNCEMENTS: Sr. High Youth Room Updates - Seeking Sr. High Student Volunteers Over Christmas break, we re going to be doing some updates to the Sr. High Youth Room (paint, new tables & chairs, etc.) and would like your help! The dates for painting are not officially set, but will be during the week of Christmas (the days following Christmas Day).
