1963 2015 IHYC FLOATING FRIEND SHIPS FOR 52 YEARS Volume 52 Issue 6 JUNE 2015 From the Commodore Well it s finally time for the dog days of summer. is here and so is the warmer weather. Quite a few people have their boats in and are starting to enjoy them. Please remember to pick up after yourself while using the grounds outside the club house. I would like to congratulate our Fleet Captain Dan Bright and his first mate Kelly for putting on a very successful Flag Raising. It was a perfect sunny day and the Bridge and Board pulled off the ceremony almost perfect. Well at least to the people watching it was perfect. The brunch that followed the ceremony was amazing. The food was so good and the ladies auxiliary did a perfect job taking great care to make sure we were all stuffed. I can t imagine what this club would be without such a strong and supportive Ladies Auxiliary. So I would like to personally thank each and every member of the Ladies Auxiliary for all their help and support. The front foyer project is moving forward slowly but surely. I know that its boating season but we need to get this renovation finished as soon as possible. So let s all pitch in and help our Vice Commodore and myself get this finished. We are a working mans club so lets step up and get this done. Thank you to everyone that has been helping out along the way. INNER HARBOR NEWS JUNE 2015 PAGE 2 The 2015 boating season is finally upon us! It is so great to see so many boats in the water. I wish everyone a happy and safe boating season. THE VICE S VOICE VICE COMMODORE CAPTAIN KEN BURGIO.Please remember that if you have an event in the clubhouse you are required to clean up after yourself. This includes washing and putting away any dishes, silverware, pots, pans, platters, silverware, etc. that you use; taking any food or condiments that you brought for your event home with you; straightening the chairs at the bar and in the dining room; vacuuming the rug; and cleaning the bathrooms. Thank you for your cooperation! from our club members. There is still a lot of work left to do to complete this project, so please be on the lookout for a future email regarding the next time there will be a get together to work on the foyer. Please come out For The Good Of The Club and help complete this seemingly never ending work in progress. I have to also thank P/C Jerry Hathaway for coming out to assist with cleaning up the garage. Unfortunately, due to lack of help we canceled that clean up, however I do appreciate P/C Hathaway s dedication and willingness to help For The Good Of The Club. V/C Captain Ken Burgio Thank you goes out to P/C George Schieder, P/C Joe Riccio, Joe Burgio, and supervision by Commodore Mike Seaman for helping with the front foyer. I know I sound like a broken record, but this project is coming along incredibly slowly. This is solely due to minimal help NEWS FROM THE REAR COMMODORE JAMIE SCHMITT Ahhhhh, finally some hot and sunny days, it was quite a beautiful May. I would like to congratulate Fleet Captain, Dan Bright on an excellent Flag Raising Ceremony this year where we couldn t have asked for better weather. With Flag Raising behind us, it s great to see the majority of the boats in the water. Hopefully everyone is cleaning up after themselves and keeping safety in mind during the final push to get in the water. I d like to give a great big thanks to everybody that showed up for the Spring clean up. We had a great showing and it was much appreciated. I would like to shout out to everyone individually; however 19 names would be a long list to thank in the newsletter. It was nice to see so many new members stepping forward to help for the good of the club. Please keep your eyes open for an email with a date and time for another outside clean up before the Boat Blessing Picnic now that the yard is almost empty. We will also (hopefully) have the peaks of the side entrance and the pavilion sided. As always, if you see anything outside that needs attention, please make me aware. We are still always looking for good, new members, so keep spreading the word of the best club on the river (creek). From the Rear, Jamie Schmitt

INNER HARBOR NEWS JUNE 2015 PAGE 3 FROM THE FLEET CAPTAIN DANIEL BRIGHT Well, it looks as though the weather is starting to cooperate so I guess its time to polish the ole girl and put her in the water for another year. Remember to check that all your safety gear is current, easily reachable in case of emergency and that your IHYC burgee is flying high. May's Flag Raising Ceremony was a great success and well attended by many P/C's and members a like. The weather was perfect as well as the food prepared by the Women s Auxiliary and steaks on the grill by Jay Rowland and his behind the scenes helpers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped to make this event a huge success. THANK YOU.
