Alyse served God and Christ Church very graciously in numerous capacities from cleaning cupboards to writing grants, taking communion to those unable to come to church, officiating at Morning Prayer, serving as a Worship Leader and Lay Eucharistic Minister as well as preparing for services as an Altar Guild member. Also blessed on May 15 th was a new alb that fits both Lynn Ukele and Louise Hammersmark, current Lectors and newly licensed Worship Leaders and Lay Eucharist Ministers. It s Barbeque and Farewell Time! Brad Knowlton has taken a job as an electrician for the U.S. Park Service, so he, Katie and Izzy will be moving to Yellowstone Park s North Entrance Village in early June. What adventures they will have! To give everyone a chance to say their goodbyes, the grills will be fired up following the service on Sunday, June 5 th for a barbeque and time for laughter and farewells! With Katie Knowlton s move to Yellowstone, one-half of the Christ Church cleaning crew is no longer available! The weekly cleaning is normally done on Friday or Saturday. This is a paid position and it is up to the two cleaners whether they do the job together, alternate weekly, or alternate monthly. Christ Church Outreach Be one of the first to have your blood pressure and pulse rate monitored with the new Christ Church instruments after the service on June 5 th. 2016 Summer Camp Thunderhead Episcopal Camp exists to provide an emotionally, physically, and spiritually safe space in which to nurture a relationship with Jesus Christ and Christ s people. The goal of the summer camping program is to provide a Sabbath experience in a sacred space that nurtures faith, fosters intercultural community, develops and deepens friendships, empowers future leaders, and equips participants to live with Christian integrity in a safe and joyful atmosphere of fun. Thunderhead Episcopal Camp is located in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, about 20 miles south of Lead/Deadwood. We provide programs for young people (Episcopalian or not) entering fifth through 12 th grade in week long sessions Camp Schedule: June 5-11: 7 th & 8 th grade Camp Open to all entering the 7 th or 8 th grade. June 12-18: Jr. & Sr. High School Camp Open to all entering the 11 th or 12 th grade and those who have just graduated high school. June 19-22: 5 th & 6 th grade Camp Open to all entering the 5 th or 6 th grade. July 7-9: Family Camp Start a tradition of camp with your family. Open to all families! This camp is a great way to introduce your kids to camp! July 10-16: Freshman and Sophomore High School Camp Open to all entering the 9 th or 10 th grade. You may also contact her to arrange transportation from Casper to camp. Your Outreach Committee has been busy helping those in need both near and afar. Funds voted for disbursement since March 31 st were $200 for the Episcopal Relief and Development s U.S. Disaster Response Fund for flooding in the U. S. South; $300 to the Glenrock Food Backpacks Program; $146.80 to Blue Cross/Blue Shield for a CSBG client for two month s insurance premiums; $250 for storage locker fee for single mother in Glenrock; $250 to Melanie Brubaker Mazur, who grew up in Glenrock, to help with breast cancer medical and hospital bills not covered by insurance; $250 for Casper Fire Captain Matt Trott, originally from Glenrock, to help with ongoing treatment for a rare cancer. Hi Petey, Please extend my thanks to our friends for the prayers, cards and flowers they have given Jim and me during my illness. Your concern has been amazing as I continue to improve. The blanket you gave me is wonderful and so warm. My thanks go to Pat Thompson for stepping in to provide music for Sunday services, what a life saver! Thanks for sharing. Notes from Pete St Clair, acting Sr. Warden, your vestry, and Deacon Leigh: 1. Pete cannot continue functioning as both Jr. and Sr. Warden. 2. Pete has stepped down as chairman of the Building Committee and Dave Jones has graciously accepted the chairmanship. The committee has received a bid on the church log and window project. Please contact Dave 436-9364 with questions or concerns. Also, many thanks to Dave for his faithful snow removal during the winter. 3. Vestry will meet with The Rev. Joel Dingman of the diocese on Wednesday evening, May 25. 4. Pete is offering to loan his video camera to anyone who would do a video inventory of the church. Contact Pete if you would like to do this task. 5. The Follums, our church neighbors, will soon be putting a fence and retaining wall on the property line. 6. Pat Thompson volunteered to work on setting up a prayer chain/circle. 7. Pete is looking into a rock sign for the parking lot entrance off Deer Street. 8. The Albrants have agreed to cut the grass again this year. Andrew is trying to earn funds for a school trip. 9. The sprinkler system to be turned on Wednesday, May 25 th weather permitting. 10. A lock of some sort will soon be put on the basement door. This is a top priority for the safety of the children. 11. Please contact Pete or Dave for maintenance issues needing attention. 12. A notepad is on the refrigerator for supplies needed. 13. The youth group is to have final school year meeting Wednesday, May 25 th. 14. Deacon Leigh will give her Haiti mission trip presentation to the youth group in September. 15. The book study has five people participating and meets following the Healing Service the first Wednesday of each month. 16. The acolyte trip planned for October 2016 has been cancelled but the families want to try again next year. Date for the 2017 National Acolyte Festival should be Oct. 14, 2017. Planning will begin soon as there will be several fund raisers. 17. Deacon Leigh continues to post news items, newsletters and photos to the Christ Church website. 18. Marty Strand has volunteered to be a delegate to Diocesan Convention to replace Kregg Schwindt who is moving to Rock Springs. 19. Kregg continues the adult inquirers confirmation class with the deacons, as his work schedule permits. 20. Outreach is discussing with the Douglas Helping Hands group on how Christ Church Outreach can work with them. 21. Volunteers are needed for summer Sunday School and nursery. Thank a Sunday School teacher today! Our fabulous Sunday School teachers, Jen Magee and Sally Suppes, have given notice they will be taking not only the summer, but the entire year away from Sunday School! How they will be missed!!! We give thanks for the years they have loved and served the children of Christ Church. The enthusiasm and joy they shared with the children has been a delight for all of us.
