From the West Greeting brethren, I would first like to congratulate Brother Brad Bick for being raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason; along with Brother Rodriguez from Gideon Lodge #84 and Brother Gibney from Star in the East #59. It was nice to see all the brethren come out in support of the candidates. It seems rare nowadays to see the sidelines full of brothers. It was a welcomed sight. William Whipple Military Lodge did a great job with the second section of the degree. William Whipple Military Lodge is named after Brigadier General William Whipple. William Whipple was born on January 14 th 1730 in Kittery Maine. He was a sailor, a merchant, as well as a soldier. Whipple was elected to represent New Hampshire in the Continental Congress from 1776-79. During which time he was commissioned as a Brigadier General of the New Hampshire Militia. General Whipple led men in the successful expedition against General Burgoyne at the battles of Stillwater and Saratoga. After the war Whipple was appointed an associate justice of the Superior Court of New Hampshire. Of the fifty six men who signed the Declaration of Independence, nine were Masons. William Whipple was one of those masons. Fraternally, Bro. Brent A. Maxwell Senior Warden
