HOT CHOCOLATE AT THE CATHEDRAL Saturday, November 18th Rain or shine, the Chronicle Herald Parade of Lights is an exciting event for the Cathedral neighbourhood. Next Sunday November 19 th, the King s Chorus, directed by Nick Halley, will present their annual concert of music for St. Cecilia featuring Handel s Utrecht Te Deum, Haydn s Te Deum in C, and Paul Halley s Letter from Giocondo. The choir will be accompanied by the chamber orchestra Ensemble Regale. Soloists will include two boy sopranos from Capella Regalis and three members of the Cathedral Choir. Tickets are available at www.tickethalifax.com Outreach Kitchen Party The Cathedral will be providing food for St. George s Soup Kitchen on Saturday, December 2. Thanks for a Time to Heal: Building a Legacy of Hope Reception and Choral Evensong It was glorious to see so many in the Cathedral for the Choral Evensong of Thanksgiving and Reconciliation with our Primate on October 22. The music was food for the soul; the liturgy uplifting; and our Primate riveting the eyes of everyone were on Archbishop Fred! The Open House Reception that preceded the service offered great hospitality. Thank you to all who made the special event possible: Dean Paul, Paul Halley and the Cathedral Choir, The St. Catherine s Group, and all who attended and supported the Anglican Healing Fund. The Cathedral was able to offer a bit over $7,000 and the offering that evening, independent of the Cathedral contribution, was a little over $7,000! We are reminded of Archbishop Fred s hope and prayer that we remain firm in our resolve to support healing and reconciliation... so that the future will be marked by a profound respect for the dignity with which the Creator has endowed all peoples, and by that harmony with which the Creator would have us live in relations that are good and right and just for all. Outreach to Infants One of our outreach projects is the Mother and Child support Programme at Phoenix House. Infant related items, baby food, formula, wipes, diapers etc. are always in need. Please consider bringing an item to the Nursery on Sundays in support of this program. Thank you. The children's hospital gives finger puppets to children undergoing blood work or medical procedures. Patterns are available on the large table at the main entrance to the Cathedral. Please see Deacon Heather for more information. The program combines academic study with integrative components to help participants take what they learn about Scripture, church history, theology and ethics into their own lives and hearts, supporting them in living out a vibrant baptismal ministry in the church and in the world.
