Immanuel Lutheran Church is collecting shoes! Shoes will be shipped to Belize and distributed by our Mission Team in June of 2019. Shoes must be solid and in good shape. Gently used and new shoes, size toddler 10 through adult 10, are needed. Closed-toe shoes preferred. CALL TO WORSHIP L: The Lord is king! C: God will judge the peoples with equity. CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS L: For the well-being of all God s children, we confess our sins before God and one another. Pause for silence and reflection. L: Faithful Teacher, C: As we become fully immersed into a new year, we ask your forgiveness for those things that we have done and have failed to do that bring harm to you, others, or ourselves. Cleanse us from our sin and transform us by your forgiveness. Amen.

READING MATTHEW 2:1-12 In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 asking, Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage. 3 When King Herod heard this, he was frightened, and all Jerusalem with him; 4 and calling together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 They told him, In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it has been written by the prophet:

APOSTLE S CREED I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen
