Interim Minister Selection Committee The Session has elected Chris Bergelin, Louis Vinay, and Jean VanNoppen to serve on the Interim Minister Selection Committee. These three members will work with General Presbyter Rev. Bobbi White to find an interim minister. This committee will present their selection to Session, which then votes and extends the offer to the minister. Please keep this group and the Session in your prayers. Shepherd Program Organizational Meeting A reminder to all '16-'17 Shepherds: There will be a Shepherd Program Organizational Meeting on September 18 at 5:00 PM in room 102. We will get organized and inspired to continue our work of ensuring that all members receive the love, care, and concern of the church. Please RSVP to the church office. Thanks! Operation Christmas Child Begins Sunday, September 18 Since 1993, more than 100 million shoeboxes have been delivered to children in over 150 countries. The annual drive to provide gift-filled shoeboxes to needy children throughout the world begins Sunday, September 18. Shoeboxes, with instructions, will be outside the fellowship hall for you to take home, fill from an approved list of items, and return to the church office for the collection week of November 14-21. Last year we collected 100 boxes our goal this year is 110 boxes! Watch our progress on the "Going and Growing" chart outside the church office. This is an opportunity for us, who have been blessed by God, to reach children with the true meaning of Christmas the birth of Jesus and to spread the gospel through a box filled with love. Contact Tom Kilgore (438-0844, ckpaints@bellsouth.net) with any questions. Neighborhood Presbygreeter Meeting We will have a short meeting for Neighborhood Presbygreeters on Sunday, September 18, following worship in room 200. Please contact Pastor Adam if you are interested in serving as a Neighborhood Presbygreeter. Job description: The Presbygreeter should welcome newly-arrived neighbors and let them know that First Presbyterian would be delighted to welcome them as visitors or members. If the new arrival indicates interest, the next step is to invite them to Sunday worship, a special event, Wednesday night supper, youth fellowship, etc. A report of the visit should be made to the Good News Committee Chair or the church office so that a follow-up contact might be made. A House of Refuge Request!
