March 2015 Trinity News Trinity Church of Spring Valley, California News of Events on the Hill Words from Pastor First I would like to thank Trinity Christian School for buying our new refrigerator! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Our old one that was 35 years old gave up the ghost and the new one cost $3,900.00. The Sessions letter sharing our intent to leave the Presbyterian Church USA was presented to the Presbytery of San Diego on Saturday Feb. 21 st. They are forming a response team to present the Presbyteries position. Please pray for our response team David Wallace, David Torres, Shirley Woodson, and Rebecca DeBreau. They will need your prayers for wisdom and love as we seek God s peaceful separation. I can t believe that March is already here. Palm Sunday is the last Sunday in March the 29 th and we will begin Holy Week. This is our time to prepare our hearts and lives for the greatest event in human history. The death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus. Oh, one more thing, don t forget March 8 th, it s the time change back to Daylight Savings time. This has to be my favorite time of the year! I hope to see most of you at Warren Huyser s memorial service Saturday March 7 th at 11a.m. here at Trinity. Pastor Randy Yenter randey@trinitypres.org (619) 465-3011 x105 Words from our Financial Administrator Dear Trinity Family- I find that since I injured my hand on the morning of the congregational meeting, February 8th, my family needs and obligations have overshadowed my work here at Trinity Church temporarily. I continue to get the important day to day items done, but I am sorry, this months financial report is not available at this time. I will catch up, and double up on my entry next month for your review. I will remain faithful and committed to serving my Lord and Savior as well as my Trinity family during this time of trial. I hope you all had a chance to get your copies of the Annual Report, and Financial Reports for 2014, if not, they are available in the church office. Thank you for your understanding, love, patience, and faithfulness to continue God's great work here on His hill in Spring Valley. May His blessings abound to you and your family. Financial Administrator Rebecca Casey rebecca@trinitypres.org (619) 465-3011 x108

Words from our Young Adult Ministries Director As another month comes to a close it has been a fun time in ministry. We had over 20 people come out to our family dinner night at Devine Pastabilities. It was a joy to laugh and talk even if we were all over the restaurant. The restaurant staff was very interested and asked alot of questions about our church as well. The next family dinner night out will be Sunday, March 22nd at Rocking Baja Lobster in Old Town at 6p.m. dinner time. Thank you to all who donated to the college program at our pancake breakfast. We are getting ready for a weekend retreat March 13-15... We have a date and talk series for the weekend but please pray we lock down a location. We are still up in the air on finding a place but as always we trust in God and he does what he does. We have two more fundraisers coming up. A Coffee Shop on Friday March 6th featuring the musical styling of the world famous John Barry. We also have another pancake breakfast on March 8th during church Jon Yenter Young Adult Ministries jon@trinitypres.org (619) 519-1578 Words from our Youth Director Inside Out Youth Ministry started the month with six of us attending Winter Camp at Alpine Conference Center. Thank you to all of those who donated money, prayed for this trip, and supported us in other ways. Although a few kids got sick and were not able to attend as planned, the six of us had a really amazing time. Each day we were able to bond with each other and have special time with Jesus as well. The students had such a great time that I ask for you to pray more aggressively for them because as soon as there is connection with Jesus, our enemy Satan begins to attack, and for some, it feels like he has been. Our young ladies need your prayers more than they are willing to admit, so I'm asking for them. I appreciate each of you praying for discipleship opportunities, for service, and for a deeper connection with Jesus and our Creator. We are continuing to work out projects dealing with self esteem, including spiritual gifts and looking deeper into what God says about each of his children. We are building an "Uplift Wall", which is the accumulation of several weeks of small projects. It will be nearly complete this week and you are welcome to come and check it out! Our event this month was "Fruit of the Spirit" night. We had several games and competitions all involving various kinds of fruit, ending with a really fun and messy game of Fruit Football, which is like ultimate Frisbee, but with fruits instead of Frisbees. Looking ahead, we are going to be starting a series on Growing a Faith that lasts. Again, I appreciate all of your prayers for these students. I'd also like to extend thanks to Rebecca DeBreau and Bryan Browne for dedicating their time to being with the studentsrunning games, setting up music, helping with activities. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated. For the Love Thy Neighbor Project: Our monthly visits downtown, have been put on hold, as mentioned before. I am currently in contact with Brighton Place, which is a nursing home in Spring Valley to coordinate volunteers to visit with residents, help with activities, and also help with facilities maintenance. The woman I spoke with is very excited about this opportunity to partner with us, as am I! This will be another volunteer avenue for our church and my prayer is that more people will be willing to step out of their comfort zones to partner with me. I'm really looking forward to this. Our downtown visits will continue when we have Servolution the Saturday before Easter. Every one of all ages are welcome to join me to see our downtown neighbors, as well as our potential new partners in service, Brighton Place. Also, thank you to those who continue to donate items. There will be updated lists of things we need in both display cases near Pastor's Office, as well as near the donation container. Thank you, church family, for supporting our outreach efforts. Erica Yenter Interim Youth Director erica@trinitypres.org (619) 465-3011
