WMU ########### THOUGHT TO PONDER What God wants for the world goes beyond whether we get rained on or not. I can't believe that we are half way through the year, school is out, and Summer is here. Where does the time go? As we enter the long lazy days of Summer let us examine our lives and compare them to a garden. To have a good Garden you must start with good soil. Jesus compared the heart of a man to different types of soil in Luke 8. He said there is the soil that has beaten down on the path that is hard. You, know a lot of people today have been hardened by life and the grace, love, and Word of God can not penetrate their hearts because they have been wounded so badly. Then Jesus said there is the rocky soil. These people receive the word of God, but they never grow into a deep relationship with the Lord and when hard times come they fall back into their old pattern of life. Then Jesus said there is the thorny soil. These people receive the Word grow, but their enthusiasm and witness is choked out by peer pressure. Finally, there is the Good soil these people receive the Word and continually grow in their faith in the Lord. What kind of soil would you characterize yourself as? To have a good garden we must have good seed sown into our lives. This good seed is the instruction and the Word of God. We must study the Word, and live out the Word to be the person that God is calling us to be. To have a good garden it must be weeded and worked by the gardener. The Master Gardener is Christ Jesus our Lord. He pulls out weeds of sin in our lives daily and cultivates the soil of our Hearts to bear much fruit for the Kingdom of God. Lastly, to have a good garden it must produce fruit. If you planted a row of tomatoes and never picked a single tomato from the vine you would say that something was wrong with your plants, and you would be very disappointed. We should be bearing the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. What is that fruit? Galatians 5:22-23 tells us that Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control are the fruit of the Spirit of God. Are you bearing that kind of fruit? If God compared your life to a garden would He say that you are producing what He has planted in you? Editor reserves the right to edit for content and space. God Bless you all, and love in Christ!
