ANNUAL REPORT 2017

YOU helped rescue lives and renew souls for eternity in 2017!

So many people were rescued and countless lives renewed in 2017. And they have you to thank! You helped radically change the trajectory of people living in poverty and pain. Because of you, a child is receiving an education, a mother is easily collecting clean water, and a father is providing food for his family. You have truly delivered help for today and hope for tomorrow. Since World Help s inception in 1991, you and other world changers have impacted more than 82 million people in 71 countries. In 2017 alone, you and the rest of the World Help family bettered the lives of 3,522,452 people in need more than ever before! Thank you for giving of your time, talents, and energy in order to make our world a better place. As we set our sights on reaching even more people in 2018, we want to say what an honor it is you chose to give to World Help. You re making an impact that will outlive you and last for eternity. Help for today... Hope for tomorrow, Noel Yeatts President A LETTER OF THANKS Vernon Brewer Founder and CEO CONTENTS 4 Your role 6 Help & hope 8 Aid & relief 10 Community development 12 Spiritual impact 14 Our commitment to you 16 Mission & core values 17 Leadership 18 Join the rescue mission

YOUR ROLE As a person of faith, you have been rescued by Christ. And by helping people in need, you have reflected His love and compassion. Your generosity has fueled a worldwide rescue mission and spread the Good News that Jesus renews! 4

YOUR ROLE You have saved lives, shared the Gospel, and restored hope in some of the darkest places around the globe. You are the lifeblood of the World Help family. We are so glad you are part of this community of rescuers, including: Donors Sponsors Advocates Volunteers Fundraisers Trip participants Because of your selfless generosity, you have made an immediate and eternal difference for people you may never meet. Your involvement means people have been rescued and souls saved. 5

HELP & HOPE BY MEETING PHYSICAL NEEDS, YOU OPENED DOORS FOR THE GOSPEL Jesus is the perfect example of complete restoration. During His time on earth, He provided both physical HELP by healing the sick and spiritual HOPE by preaching salvation. Our mission is to do the same. One of our partners recently said, You cannot preach about living waters to somebody who does not have access to water in their village. 6

HELP & HOPE Every time you provide clean water, medicine, or a nutritious meal, you create opportunities to usher in the Gospel. That s when true transformation can begin. That s what help and hope are all about. WHAT DO HELP AND HOPE LOOK LIKE? Your gift provided immediate, emergency aid to people who needed it most around the world. You also provided sustainable, long-lasting solutions for people living in poverty. Every gift brought physical help and spiritual hope to someone in urgent need. Help for today... Hope for tomorrow. 7 AID & RELIEF When you help someone facing disaster or poverty, you give him a place to turn and establish a relationship of trust. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT By providing longterm solutions such as clean water, you help alleviate poverty. EDUCATION & SUSTAINABILITY By providing education and vocational training, you empower others to build a better future for themselves. SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT Bible distribution and church planting are particularly powerful ways to spread God s Word.

AID & RELIEF YOU RESCUED CHILDREN ORPHANED BY WAR Sylvia became the head of her household at age 12. She struggled to feed and protect her siblings in a refugee camp filled with 42,000 strangers. But you made sure Sylvia didn t have to support her family by herself. You provided food and other essential supplies to help them survive. Like so many children from South Sudan, Sylvia is an orphan of war. As you walk through her camp, you quickly realize child-headed households are the norm rather than the exception. And you are helping these desperate refugees with nourishing meals, medicine, hygiene items and so much more. 8

AID & RELIEF For a long time, Sylvia lived in fear that her siblings would starve because she couldn t take care of them. Supplies at the camp were running dangerously low. Each month, Sylvia s family received a ration of just seven pounds of flour not nearly enough food to live on. After losing her parents, Sylvia knew watching another family member die would be more than she could bear. Then, hope arrived along with the bags of cornmeal and other food you provided. Sylvia beamed as she hauled these lifesaving gifts back to her family. Finally, she didn t have to worry about how she would feed them. Sylvia is just one of many refugees across Africa and the Middle East whose lives you helped save. Thank you for giving them the care they need as they rebuild their lives. They will always remember your kindness you were there when they needed you most. IN 2017 You joined other passionate supporters to rescue 50,000 refugees like Sylvia around the world. You also helped send lifesaving relief to 863,000 people in 13 of the world s most impoverished nations. 9

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT YOUR SUPPORT BROUGHT CLEAN WATER AND LIVING WATER TO INDIA Every single day for more than 20 years Golu and his wife dreaded gathering water. Their village of Lal Ghati was located two miles from the nearest well. And more often than not, they returned home from the well tired and empty-handed. Many times our water-carrying vessels would be [dumped out] by the high-caste people, Golu said. In India, where castes dictate people s social ranking, upper castes live in segregated villages and do not share water wells. But you made sure that Golu and his neighbors had access to the clean water they needed. 10

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT 11 Through your generosity, a deep bore well was installed in Lal Ghati. Golu and his neighbors no longer worry about providing safe, clean water for their families. Golu and his wife, who are Christians, use the extra time to share their faith with the community. [The well] has saved much time and energy, which can be used for much better and productive purposes. Golu Because of you, the people of Lal Ghati now see love poured out in a basin of water. Your gift reminded them that God cares about them, no matter who their family is or where they come from. Your gift transformed lives in Lal Ghati and around the world. IN 2017 You helped bring sustainable change to poverty-stricken communities through: 96 clean-water projects in 12 countries Giving 64,368 people access to clean water 12,106 child sponsorships 156 child sponsorship programs in 21 countries

SPIRITUAL IMPACT IN THE FACE OF DISASTER, YOU PROVIDED PHYSICAL HELP AND SPIRITUAL HOPE It looked like the entire village had been swept by a large broom. That s what our partner said after Hurricane Irma decimated Cuba. But because of your support, dozens of church planters were equipped to help local communities recover while also pointing them to the love of Christ! Families that had lost everything saw the practical Gospel preached in the food and hygiene items you provided. And they learned the Good News through the Bibles they received. Your generosity meant the world to Camilla after the hurricane destroyed her most prized possessions her Bibles. 12

SPIRITUAL IMPACT 13 Camilla, whose name we ve changed to protect her, had spent years collecting a library of Bibles and Christian books she could share with her neighbors. It was her personal ministry to the community. But when the floodwaters filled her house, her library and her ministry was swept away in minutes. Camilla was heartbroken. Then, you helped answer her prayers. Thanks to your compassionate giving, Camilla once again has a library stocked with Bibles to share with her friends. Thank you for spreading God s Word across Cuba and around the world. IN 2017 You helped plant 3,277 churches for Christians and seekers in some of the most oppressed areas of the world countries like China, India, and Nepal. You also provided 126,280 Bibles for Christians and seekers. Many of these Bibles provided comfort to refugees far from home and believers facing unimaginable persecution in North Korea.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU FINANCIALS OVERVIEW Your trust is our top priority.
