Hope Lutheran Church 4131 Lehigh Drive, Cherryville, PA 18035-030 (610) 767-7203 hopecherryville.org CORE PURPOSE STATEMENT: People of Hope: working together, with God, to love and serve others February 19, 2017 Seventh Sunday after Epiphany In today s first reading we hear, You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy. Yet we know we cannot achieve perfection. Our attempts to love neighbors and even our enemies fall short of what God desires for us. Yet in Jesus we see one who loved even those who persecuted and killed him. We are made holy in baptism, and forgiven at the table of God s mercy. As a people made holy by God, we go in peace to love as we have been loved. CHURCH STAFF Pastor Rev. Jami Possinger ext. #12 Assistant Pastor Rev. Brian Rajcok ext. #13 Pastor Emeritus Rev. Clark W. JOIN US NEXT SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 26 th as we welcome the Concord Chamber Singers to our worship. They will perform at both services. Please plan to attend this special day! Below is a bio about this wonderful musical group.. For 50 years, Concord Chamber Singers has delighted audiences in the Lehigh Valley and communities in the United States and Europe with a repertoire of live music, including classic and contemporary works. Dr. Blaine Shover founded CCS in 1967 and led the group for 45 successful years. Dr. Jennifer Kelly joined CCS as the new Artistic Director in 2012. Under her direction, the chorus has continued to entertain audiences with a wide variety of music, such as "An Evening with the Mendelssohns ; annual Yuletide Feasts at the Northampton Country Club; a collaboration with Lafayette College for the world premiere of a major work by Gabriel Lena Frank; Carol Barnett's The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass; and most recently, John Rutter's Magnificat. In addition, CCS was the guest chorus for "Video Games Live!" with the Allentown Symphony, performs annually at Kirkland Village, and serves as the guest chorus at Lehigh University's Baccalaureate service every spring. In 2015 and 2016 Concord Chamber Singers celebrated our members' solo talents in a "Just Desserts" Cabaret, which featured the Dave Roper Trio. In spring 2016, the Iron Pigs invited CCS to sing the national anthem, and the chorus looks forward to returning this coming spring. CCS is committed to bringing quality music to our greater community. Our mission is to foster excellent singing and impactful storytelling while engaging communities in the vibrancy of the choral art.
