C h u r c h L i f e U p d a t e s Welcome to Our Guest Speaker: Calvary is honored to welcome Dr. Roger Gilbert, who will be delivering today s message in our pastor s absence. Dr. Gilbert was born in Huntsville, Alabama, and has degrees from Samford University (Bachelor of Arts) and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity; Doctor of Ministry). He and his wife Deidra have been married for 48 years and have two children and five grandchildren. Dr. Gilbert has pastored four churches in North Carolina most recently First Baptist here in Mount Airy, from which he retired in 2014 after 13 years of ministry. Gleaning Ahead: Many at Calvary will remember the gleaning project we did a while back that allowed us to bag and distribute several thousand pounds of potatoes to area food banks and ministries. We have been notified by our gleaning partner the Society of St. Andrew that there will be similar opportunities available later this summer. However, in order to participate we will need a volunteer who has a pick-up truck that can pull a small trailer and who would be willing to travel as far as Greensboro or Charlotte to pick up a pallet of produce and bring it back to Calvary. If you have a truck and are open to the possibility of serving in this way, please contact Pastor Alex (pastoralex4@gmail.com) or Doud Odell (dougodell@pvh.com). Coming Soon: Message Series on Heaven Pastor Alex plans to begin a new sermon series titled Heaven: Finding Our Hearts True Home on Sunday, July 23. If you have friends who might be interested in these messages, we encourage you to invite them to worship with us. And if you ve got questions about heaven that you ve never had a chance to ask, you re encouraged to send them to Pastor Alex by email (pastoralex4@gmail.com) or by writing them in the Church Space portion of your bulletin tear-off and dropping it in the offering plate.
