Perry Christian Church Crier Volume 7, Issue 12 January 2016 I love Isaiah 43 (NRSV), God s words of hope and salvation ring in my ear as the New Year rings in 2016. 1 But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. 3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. 16 Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters, 17 who brings out chariot and horse, army and warrior; they lie down, they cannot rise, they are extinguished, quenched like a wick: 18 Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. 19 I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. These are such comforting words after the year we have had at Perry Christian Church. Our church has been hit hard by blights that have left us wondering what kind of future we can expect. But God is our refuge and our help in the stormy blast. We need to believe with God s help we can be more than conquerors. I am reminded of the problem Joshua had AFTER he conquered the Promised Land. It was time Another Year, Now What? for the people of God to move forward and claim the land they had been given. Yet most of the tribes remained in the camp outside the Promised Land. They claimed to be regrouping after their losses from fighting to claim the land God had given them. It was easy to stay behind in the camp, it was safe, but it was NOT God s will. God had given them success to possess the land, not to look at it from afar. Let us not be like the people of old when they won the land but became complacent and lazy. Let us, in 2016, vow to now move and claim that which God has given us to possess. We have fought hard to possess that which God has given to us. We have prayed for years, we have moved out in faith when there didn t seem to be a way, we have endured losses, we have endured lean and hard times, we have endured all the world can throw at us, yet we are still standing. By the time you read this, it will be 2016, a new year, in which God is doing a new thing among us. So lift up your hearts, and gather your possessions, march into the promised land and not only claim it, but POS- SESS it. Unpack your bags, set up camp, work the land, and reap the fruit of your work. And above all, give thanks to God, praise his Holy Name, keep your eyes on the Savior, and mind every word that comes forth from your mouth that it might claim the praises of the Lord who has led us to this place, the place he has promised we would possess. I look forward to possessing God s promise to Perry Christian Church as we follow our Savior into the Promised Land. Blessings, Pastor Janet Thank You! To My Church Family, Words cannot say thank you enough for the Christmas monetary gift we received. And more than that, all the cards, gifts and well wishes from all of you. It was wonderful to spend time with Glenn at home this year; it gave us time to enjoy ourselves. Glenn and I were most blessed by the Christmas Eve service this year. It was nice to gather with our church family to celebrate the birth of Christ, and to see firsthand the work of God s hand upon the baby Alana, Susan s granddaughter. Our church had prayed for her so long, and we were blessed to see the fruit of our prayers. Thank you for sharing this Christmas season with us. It was a beautiful time for both of us to be home. Many blessings upon you and your families. Pastor Janet

Thanks Rick Bartlett and Eric Van Boxel for replacing the batteries in all 4 exit lights. Thanks to Eric Van Boxel, Rick Bartlett and Don Bartlett for time spent on the soap dispensers (about 6 hours combined.) The total expense for these items was $2511.32 with approximately 35% not budgeted for 2015. Other Recognition Thanks to Diane and Dan Frey who donated a very nice 30 x60 Formica top fully adjustable table on wheels. It is currently being stored in the garage until we decide the best usage. The Scout troop continues to meet weekly at our church as part of our community service. They had their overnight Christmas sleep over and breakfast in December. We thank Rick Bartlett who stayed overnight to help with the program and thanks to Lori Silvis and Susan Callahan who cooked breakfast for the scouts. Also thanks to the many others that helped clean up the kitchen. We also thank many other unknown people for your help because it takes a team of dedicated church family members to help keep our facility fully operational. We are all here, as a team, serving God s church and work in our community. God Bless and thank you! Together, we can achieve! Your PCC trustees December 20, 2015 Dear Friends, THANK YOU! Thank you for prayers and cards during my 2 months of healing after surgery. God blesses me daily especially by having loving support from my PCC family. Mary Hale Thank you for the generous monetary gift for Christmas. I appreciate your kindness. I love seeing everyone s name on the card. It signifies to me that you truly are a family of God. I hope that each of you had a blessed Christmas and pray that the new year will bring many blessings to you. In Christ, Deb Kendrick Thank you for the real nice love bag filled with goodies! It was very thoughtful of everybody and well liked. Happy New Year to everyone! I would like to thank the CWM for the beautiful butterfly gift box I was presented with as the outgoing president. May this New Year be a song of THANKSGIVING, an offering of PRAISE, and a celebration of GOD S LOVE in HIS AMAZING GRACE. Judy Bartlett December 13, 2015 Dear Friends, The trustees and staff of the Hope Chest wish to thank you for your gift of $300.00 received on 12/9/2015. Sincerely, Deborah Frasher Treasurer, The Hope Chest Dear Perry Christian Friends, Thank you so much for your unwavering support over the years. It means so much. The school year is going well.
