Having just celebrated Pentecost we can now see the logical sequence of all the Church s Sunday Feasts that follow Easter. The Easter Resurrection was followed by the Ascension of Christ in his risen and glorified humanity to the right hand of the Father, creating an eternal home for our risen humanity. Following the Ascension, the Father and the Son sent the Holy Spirit among us at Pentecost creating the Church with her Sacraments to join us to Christ, so that now where he has gone, we may follow. Now as his adopted sons and daughters in the Holy Spirit, we pause and recognize the reality of this God who has fully revealed himself to be a loving Trinity, one God in three Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God, by revealing Himself to be a Trinity, has showed that he himself is Love, both for us as demonstrated by the Cross and in Himself by the relationship of the Three. That is the focus of this Sunday s Feast. This living Trinity is present in the Mass in that in the Mass we are addressing the Father, through his living Son present in word and body, by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. In the Mass we are tangibly taken up into a Trinitarian God experience that one day will be our eternity. It is an experience that we strive to more fully live each day. Always going to the Father, through the Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Always becoming more and more his true sons and daughters so as to one day enter final communion with Him in heaven. Finally entering into the fullness of Love itself. A Love that yearns for us and desires us to share his life. No longer under the veil of Sacraments but face to face, to see Him as he truly is. To see Love and to be loved. What an eternity! Next week we will have the opportunity to take part in a brief procession around most of our city block with the Blessed Sacrament. It will be modest. We will process with candles, flowers and the Blessed Sacrament. Our procession will be accompanied by moments along the way to stop and pray. It will not be long, mindful of some of our physical challenges. The idea is to make a tangible connection with the living presence of Christ present in the Eucharist. Devotional actions where we walk and pray engage the mind and soul often in a new way and remind us of our pilgrimage home to God. Public devotional acts feed our private prayer life and they build up the faith of others. I hope you are able to participate! I also hope you can share in our Corpus Christi meal. Delicious. Fr. Mark Vander Steeg

May 26 & 27, 2018 PAGE 3 Feast of the Holy Trinity The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ - ROMANA 8:16-17 If we are heirs to the kingdom of God, shouldn t we work to build up His kingdom? Shouldn t we be good stewards of our inheritance, using our time in prayer, our talent in charitable works and our treasure to care for the Church that God has left to us? Our Church is a treasured heirloom from God. Do we treat it that way? Religious Education Updates! Religious Education classes may have ended in April, but they will be returning before you know it! After several meetings at the diocese over the past year, we realized that a strict classroom model of RE may not be the best for forming disciples of Christ. As a result, we are planning on shaking things up and making a few changes for next year. If you are a parent who has children in our Religious Education program, please make an effort to join us for a meeting on May 30 th at 6:00 in Bishop Hall to hear about these changes in detail. As with every year, we re always looking for people to help out as volunteers be it catechists, small group facilitators, in-class helpers, or even subs. Please contact Jeannine Hadzima at jeannine@stbernardcong.org if you feel called to serve the parish in this capacity. Thank you! Adam Confirmation Commissioning Retreat Pentecost Sunday.
