TODAY I WILL CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS TO INCREASE MY DAILY ACTIVITY BY: Parking farther from my destination than usual. Using a pedometer and working up to a goal of 5,000 steps per day, increasing gradually, and eventually reaching 10,000 steps each day. Listening to music or books on tape while walking. Enlisting a friend or spouse to walk with me. Taking the stairs. Walking into the bank or restaurant instead of using the drive-through window. Paying for gas inside instead of at the pump Starting an office or faculty walking club. Creating a step competition with others at work. Using a pedometer to discover who takes the most steps each day. Breaking my walk into 10 or 15 minute sessions if I can t find time for a full 30 minutes. Skipping the use of a golf cart and carrying/pulling my clubs. Managing the stress of a difficult day by excusing myself for a few minutes of walking. Scheduling regular visits to a museum, zoo, or nature preserve. (Adapted from Ministerial Growth and Support, LCMS 4-10) ELDERBERRIES (age 50 and older) We will meet Tuesday, June 1, at 11:30 am in the Fellowship Hall. The menu will include sliced ham, OUR RESPONSE TO GOD LAST WEEK: Worship Attendance: 535 (40+88+191+216) Guests: 54 Sunday School/Bible Class: 198 (84+114) augratin potatoes, fruit, buttered rolls and dessert. The cost is $7.50. Our speaker will be Sister Carol Marie Hemish, SSND. Her talk is "The Gift of Years: A Reflection on a Good Long Life". She will show us ways to integrate the riches of our lives so that we can look forward to each new day with hope, energy and joy. Come and listen to the presentation and enjoy the Christian fellowship. (Redeemer's Dottie Hultquist has heard the presentation at the Senior Center and might be able to answer questions about it.)
