Raymond UMC Church Newsletter of Upcoming Events, Reminders and Happenings Beloved Church family - This June and July we will be spending time learning from Chapters 2-6 in the Gospel of Mark. In these chapters there are powerful and soul-stirring stories of Jesus ministry of healing, teaching and action in challenging circumstances. What do these stories teach us about discipleship? What do these stories reveal to us about who Jesus is and who we are called to be in the world? I hope that you will join us for worship throughout the summer as we continue to listen and grow together. Here is part of one story we will be studying in worship this summer: Mark 4:35-41 (NIV) - Jesus Calms the Storm 35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, Let us go over to the other side. 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, Teacher, don t you care if we drown? 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, Quiet! Be still! Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith? 41 They were terrified and asked each other, Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him! This summer and always let our faith be bigger than our fears. Let us be united in our love for God and for all people and find new ways to witness and welcome others into conversation about how we continue to be transformed, even or especially in the storms. Friends always know that you are loved by your creator. If I can pray for you, support or serve you in any way please let me know. I am grateful to continue to journey together seeking to help, renew and reach the world for Jesus.
