PERSONAL WORD NOVEMBER 17, 2013 8:45 & 11:00 AM Sanctuary The 8:45 AM worship service is broadcast via 15-minute delay from 9-10 AM Sundays on WAPI-1070 AM. BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN LOAFING DAY SERMON Dr. Andrew Wolfe MUSIC 8:45 AM Children s Handbell Choir, Seeds of Faith, Praise Alliance 11:00 AM Children s Handbell Choir, Seeds of Faith, Celebration Choir, Sanctuary Choir MINISTER ON CALL Bobby Scales, 746-4547 John Huntsman is a billionaire. He built the world s largest privately owned chemical company from scratch. It started when he created the styrofoam egg clamshell for McDonald s burgers and it grew from there. But, his business success is only a means to an end for Huntsman. A cancer survivor himself, Huntsman has declared war on cancer. He has given more than $150 million to build The Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah. Last week, he added another $50 million to fund children s cancer research. His goal is audacious, to end human suffering caused by cancer. The Institute employs more than 300 researchers from top laboratories. This act of generosity was nothing new for Huntsman. It is something he has done since his youth in rural Idaho. Decades ago, he started donating $50 of his $320-permonth naval salary to the poor. His goal in building a massive petrochemical empire, was so that he could give the proceeds away. It is such a joy to give money away and it is such a privilege it is an absolute duty of life, Huntsman says. His company lists charitable giving in its mission statement. How refreshing to find someone who sees success not simply in terms of what we get, but by what we are able to give. 8:45 & 11:00 AM WESLEY HALL Rev.
