Black River Baptist Association Beacon Newsletter Mission Statement: A Family of Churches Dedicated to Apr/May 2018 Obeying the Great Commission WE CAN DO MORE FOR THE GOSPEL TOGETHER! Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (CSB) Associational Emphasis Week May 20-27 During this week, we ask every member of a Church within the Association to lift up the Association its ministries and leadership and each associational Church in prayer. We will again be providing a prayer guide in the near future.
From the Desk of the DOM What is a Baptist Association? I am sure that most definitions you would find though the wording may vary somewhat would be similar in principle. It is a family of churches who voluntarily choose to participate with one another to make Christ known from their local community to the ends of the earth. The emphasis of this definition is Jesus Christ: exalting Him, worshipping Him, and bearing witness of Him. As we come together to make Him known, there is ministry we are able to do together that perhaps we cannot do separately. That is why it is important to participate in the Association. Yes, our churches graciously and faithfully support Black River financially, but it is about more than money. It is about participating and being involved. It is vital that we fellowship together and minister together. Associational Emphasis Week in May is a good opportunity for a renewed involvement through prayer and participation. Jesus once told His disciples, By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye love one another (John 13:35). Let us show love in the days ahead for the Glory of God. Thank you for the privilege of serving together with you! By His Grace, Bro. CAMP MCCLANAHAN Projects for construction teams and church groups: There are two buildings on the campgrounds that need to be taken down, the former Bible Study building and the old Parma cabin. The main dining hall door needs repairs as it will not latch and remain closed. The former Prophet s Chamber needs wood placed around its windows. This wood then needs to be painted. The doors of this building also need to be scrapped and painted. We also need volunteers to help clean various parts of the campgrounds before the summer camp season arrives. If a group from your church would like to help with any of these projects, please contact Bro. Kevin at the office (573-888-3867 or dom@blackriverbaptist.org). True Love Waits Rally The annual True Love Waits Rally was held on Wednesday, February 14 at First Southern Baptist, Malden. Music was provided by the band UN-DONE and the guest speaker was Karrie Lancaster. Both the music and presentation were a blessing. Approximately 130 youth and adults were in attendance at the event. Praise God! We would like to thank the host church and all volunteers involved in the event for their ministry. We ask that the people of the Association continue to lift up our youth in prayer, praying that they will exhibit godly characteristics in their lives.
