E-Encourager 2 And Isaac dug again the wells of water that had been dug in the days of Abraham his father, which the Philistines had stopped after the death of Abraham. Genesis 26:18 Each year more than 800 Southern Baptist churches cease to exist. That s more than 15,000 churches in the past 20 years. The vast majority of the churches that ceased to exist were in communities that had experienced population growth in the previous decade. Make no mistake, when Southern Baptist loose over 15,000 churches in one generation the enemy is at work attempting to rob God of His glory and limit the impact of the Gospel on the lives of people. The declining and death of churches in the midst of communities of people who need the gospel is an act of spiritual warfare. Thousands of churches have been buried by the enemy in such as way that they can no longer effectively provide a source of life giving hope. I have personally experienced the toil, the danger, the frustration and the unimaginable joy of unstopping a well. Our church, Wornall Road had long ago been filled in by the enemy. Long ago they had lost their focus and passion and no longer did they serve the neighborhood. But it was still a church. There was indeed life giving water if the work was done to dig again the well. Church revitalization is digging again the well. It is most challenging and personally costly task I have ever undertaken. It has been and continues to be worth every ounce of effort to bring life to a dry land for God s glory and our joy. Here in North Grand River Association we have many churches who need to dig again that wells. As you look to a new future and a new leader be praying that all of us will see the need to revitalize our churches to open up wells of living water for all of our region. Pray for your New Directions Team -(Steve Dennis, Doug Crawford, Tim Munday, John Rice, Iva Gail Ratliff and Debbie Dickinson) as they begin their work next week to help your association discover the future our Lord has in store. I have enjoyed serving as your Interim DOAM. My role with you concluded July 16, 2018. I am committed to working with your New Directions Team and your association as a coach/consultant in the weeks ahead as you seek your new future. God bless you all! Mark Clifton Minister s Juggling Act- Retreat for Ministers- September 27-29 What is the Minister s Juggling Act? Are you tired from trying to juggle all of life s priorities? E-Encourager 5 Edinburg- The BBQ for the young group went well and was enjoyed by all. We had 4 to attend the NGR Senior Society meeting on July 3rd. Pastor Brad Prater of Rural Dale had the message in song. It was a blessing. There were 16 attending and 5 churches represented. We had a real good turn out for VBS this year. We had a swim party on July 7th as part of VBS. Everyone enjoyed the food, swimming and fellowship together. We had our ice cream social on the 8th of July. Everyone enjoyed the homemade Ice Cream, hot dogs, chips and wonderful fellowship. We had 7 to 8 children and one brave leader that went to Children s Camp. If you haven t ever helped at camp, maybe think and pray about helping next year. I know I (Kelli) have been blessed by going and helping out! On July 29th we are planning a movie at 6 pm at our church, I Can Only Imagine. As always everyone is welcome at our church. Hope to see you there! Princeton- Our VBS attendance was an average of 46 children each day. We are having a monthly night of worship with all churches welcome to attend and if anyone has a talent let Pastor Abner or Abi Neill know. Our July worship attendance was 80+ with good singing from our ladies and the special. Trenton FBC July has been a very busy month for us. A group went on a mission trip to Canada, VBS, family night at the Royals, Keenager events and we ended the month with a church picnic at Crowder. The Wednesday night group is spending most of the time in prayer for the ministries of the church, the lost, other churches in the association and other needs. Most of the time is spent in prayer and then Bible Study in Judges. It is a time of blessing to each one as together we pray and study God s Word. You are welcome to join us. July 30th the youth will leave for Super Summer Youth Camp. They have been busy with activities and studying God s Word. While all these activities are good and fun we are challenged to make each one a time to Connect, Grow and Serve, our church s mission statement. Union Coon Creek Maerissa Knapp who is visiting from Africa shared on July 1 st about her upcoming backpack tour through Europe and sharing Jesus as they go. After the tour she will return to Africa to continue her teaching ministry in Kenya. We have had 2 baptisms since our last report and Pastor Doug has just finished a series on Letting Go from the 1 st part of Moses life in Exodus. We also look forward to our Deacon in training, Bob Clover coming along side our other deacons and growing in his service to Jesus Christ. Bob s wife is Joyce. We held our kickoff for Bible School July 5th at CF Russell stadium and followed with Bible School nightly from July 6 th 11 th. Our theme was Game On with a decorative setting based on athletics and growing strong in studying our playbook, the Bible. We averaged 65 people a night in attendance, with close to 90 for our closing program. We seen 3 salvations and 2 recommitments on following through with baptisms. We have several enrolled for children s camp in July. We regret the resignation of our associate pastor Matt Arthuad but wish him the blessings of God as he goes to Columbia MO to practice in the cardiac ER department. We also give a hearty Congratulations to Matt and Kara On the birth of their new twin girls Elise Micah and Olivia Mae. We look forward to our 5 th Sunday meal on the 29 th of July and remind everyone we go to Eastview Nursing Home every 3rd Sunday of the month.
