September 24, 2017 11:00 a.m. We welcome you to worship with us this morning, as we gather in community to draw closer to God, made known in Christ. We pray you will know the presence of the Lord, through our worship, and through the work of the Spirit. We invite you to take these moments before worship to calm your hearts and minds and open yourself to the quiet stillness of the presence of God! Call to Worship One: O give thanks to the Lord! The Lord hears the cries of the people. All: Give thanks to the Lord! One: The works of the Lord are great; remember what God has done. All: Give thanks to the Lord! One: God has done miracles, and the Lord always remembers His covenant. All: Give thanks to the Lord! Glory and praise is due to the Lord! *Opening Hymn #305 Come Sing, O Church, in Joy! Prayer of Confession (in unison) Gracious God, we have sought after things, but we have not sought after you. We have expected generosity, but we have not shown generosity. We have not been gracious or grateful. We have failed to remember all that you have done. Forgive us and fill our hearts with gratitude. Help us to share our gifts, and strengthen us for the journey of following after you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. (A Moment of Silent Confession) Promise of God s Forgiveness One: Hear the good news of the gospel: All: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven, healed, and made whole. One: Know that we have been forgiven, and be at peace! All: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. Amen! *Congregational Response (Hymn #581) The Giving of Our Tithes, Gifts, & Selves to God - Offertory Congregational Response (Hymn #606) *Prayer of Dedication WE ENCOUNTER GOD S WORD Time for Children Junior Sermon Valerie Harsh Children ages 3 1 st Grade are invited to Junior Church after the Anthem; Worship Boards are on the front pew for older youth.

Cashing *Reflective Hymn #438 Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me WE RESPOND TO GOD S WORD Affirmation of Faith I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. [Apostles Creed, p. 35 of Glory to God hymnal] Prayers of the People & Lord s Prayer One: Lord, in your mercy, All: Hear our prayers. *Departing Hymn #275 A Mighty Fortress Is Our God Blessing One: We have been blessed!
