NOVEMBER 2018 THE KNIGHTLY NEWS Preschool - 8 Newsletter It is hard to believe that we are a quarter through the school year and that the holiday season is right around the corner. October has been an exciting month with activities such as Grandparents' Day at St. Lawrence, our students leading the Living Rosary, our pets being blessed on the Feast of St. Francis, and, of course, the success of our fall activities in both middle school and high school. As the hustle and bustle of the holiday season approaches, I ask that we all take time to sit down with our children and reconnect. As we reconnect, I suggest that we, as parents, talk about the blessings that God has provided us over the last year and give Him thanks. With Advent just around the corner, we all need to remember to talk with our kids about the reason for the Advent season. It is so easy to get caught up in the commercialization of the season, we just need to remember to bring it back to God. As we approach Thanksgiving, I would like to personally thank the entire Kuemper family for believing in our mission and working together to help our kids become the best versions of themselves. A huge thank you to the students for always trying their best and striving to grow everyday. Thank you to the entire Kuemper staff for their dedication to helping our kids reach their potential. Finally, thank you parents for sending your child to Kuemper. We are blessed that they are here and that you are all part of our family! Happy Thanksgiving and God's Blessings to all of you! Sincerely, Ted Garringer PK-8 Principal Kuemper Catholic School System's mission is to provide excellent Catholic education of mind, body, and soul to empower all students to achieve to the best of their abilities in fulfillment of God's call. Flu Season is here... Please continue to help safeguard everyone by monitoring yourself and your children for signs of illness and keep your children home when they are ill. Symptoms of flu include: a fever (100 degrees F or higher) with a cough or sore throat, and keep your child home from school at least 24 hours after their temperature returns to normal (without the help of feverreducing medication). You can help our efforts by encouraging your students to wash their hands often and thoroughly. Thank you for your cooperation. Obtaining Report Cards First Quarter Report Cards will be made available on your Infinite Campus Portal on November 2nd. You can access your child(ren)'s report card by selecting your child's name from the pull down menu at the top of your Parent Portal. Once you are in your child's account, select the "Reports" link and select the "Quarter 1" report card. This will allow you to view a PDF version of your child's report card. You can either save or print off the report card. If you need any help, please contact your child's building secretary. Eucharistic Adoration Eucharistic Adoration is being held every Friday in the St. Francis of Assisi Chapel at Kuemper High School. We are looking for volunteers from 8:30 3:30 every Friday to partake in adoration. If you are interested in this great opportunity, please contact Katherine Dea at krdea@kuemper.org or by calling (712) 792-3596. Thank you. Thanksgiving Prayer This Thanksgiving let those of us who have much and those who have little gather at the welcoming table of the Lord. At this blessed feast, may rich and poor alike remember that we are called to serve one another and to walk together in God's gracious world. With thankful hearts we praise our God who like a loving parent denies us no good thing. Today and every day, it pleases God for us to sit as brothers and sisters as we share the bounty of the earth and the grace God has placed in each blessed soul. For this we all give thanks and praise to our loving and gracious God.
