Transcription:

Since 1941, University United Methodist Church has been a presence in the LSU community and surrounding areas. Our buildings are beautiful and also old. Maintaining our historic structures is an endeavor, and often we have forgone updates so we might do more ministry outside of our walls. The time has come, however, to turn our focus to renovations and updates. In order to assure our church s continual welcoming and hospitable campus, we need to raise funds outside of our normal operating budget for needed improvements. On March 31st, the church will host a Miracle Sunday. After all, it would be a miracle to raise enough funds to complete our catalog. In order to address all our needs, and all our hopes, we need to raise $416,000. In order to meet the most outstanding needs, we need to raise about $164,000. In this catalog is an in depth list of the needed improvements, repairs, and renovations for our campus. We invite you to consider how you might stretch beyond your normal tithes and offerings to give to this special Miracle Sunday. We hope that as you look at the catalog, you are able to pray about how you (and your family) might respond to the needs of the church. At the end of the catalog is a giving form. Please use this form to indicate the amount of your gift, how you are making payment, and if you have a specific project you would like your money to be considered for. And as always, thank you for your generous giving and love for this church.

Steel Support for Kitchen Stoop Kitchen Pantries Our Kitchen needs structural support. Since the kitchen works so hard to support us and our ministry, let's take good care of it too. Our kitchens work hard! To make them more functional and able to continue to provide Sunday cookies, Second Sunday treats, and serve our preschool students, restructuring our pantries would greatly ease food preparation and $1,000 $900 $1,800 TOTAL $2,800

Install windows in Pastors office doors Our pastors meet with many people and their offices provide safe spaces for other private meetings. By adding windows to the doors, pastors and others are able to continue meeting with transparency $250/door $500 Bathrooms in Church Administrative office The administrative restrooms are among the most frequently used in the church. They need a little TLC. Help us transform them and renovate them. $1500/each $3,000 TOTAL $3,500

Repair Copper Vent Cap that is loose on Chapel Replace Broken Wood Posts Bicycle Pad Replacement The renovations on the interior of our chapel are beautiful; let's make the outside just as pretty. The wooden posts provide a barrier to keep our beautiful oak trees healthy and protected. We cherish being a community place. Our bike pad provides secure storage for all who bike to church for worship, events, and $200 $100/post $400 $400 $400 Paint Outdoor Sign We made a large investment in our new outdoor sign. Every so often it needs new paint. Help us keep our sign a beautiful $750

Roof Leak in the Shop Dusk to Dawn Sensors and Solar Powered Units for all Exterior Lights Paint New Exterior Doors Our shop houses tools, stores decorations, and serves as home to an assortment of outdoor equipment. The roof is worn out and needs repairs so we can continue to utilize this space. Our campus is used night and day, not only by our church, but also by outside groups, choirs, and organizations. Help us make our campus safe to navigate at night and energy efficient with solar powered lights. We took time to replace seven of our aging doors. In order to ensure their longevity, they need new paint. $1,000 $2,000 $300/door $2,100 Dumpster Relocation How far is too far to walk with a big bag of trash from the kitchen? Right now our dumpster is definitely too far. By relocating the dumpster, we will make cleaning our beautiful campus much easier for our hard working facilities $4,000

Covered walkway between Trice & Children s Building Front Entrance Covered walkway between Kitchen Exterior to Holmes Building Our open campus is beautiful, but running through it in the rain isn't much fun. Help us install another covered walkway to make it easier to move from building to building. Our preschool children are served breakfast, lunch and a snack daily. Their food, plates, utensils, and drinks must be transported from the kitchen to their classrooms. By creating a covered walkway, we will be able to provide shelter from rain and sun for our kitchen staff, as well as our kitchen volunteers on $8,000 $9,000 TOTAL $27,850

Signage for Stained Glass windows, bell tower, and courtyard Repair Pews We hope to honor the gifts given in memory of loved ones. By adding signs, we are able to honor them and invite others to become a part of the story of University UMC. Worship is the first experience of UUMC for many people. Keeping our sanctuary welcoming is essential to a good first impression. Having a stable seat is great place $500 $1,000 Paint Sanctuary Doors The sanctuary is most often the first impression someone has of our church. Our Sanctuary needs a little TLC; let's paint those doors and keep it a warm welcome for our visitors, guests, and members alike. $300/door $1,200 Repairs to Ladies sanctuary bathroom Our sanctuary was built in the 1950s and this is reflected in many of our spaces including the restrooms. Updating our restrooms is more than cosmetic, it is a way of offering hospitality to all who come $2,000

Redo Chancel Our chancel area is host to special $5,000 area Flooring musicians, concerts, our beautiful altar table, and more. The floor is well worn and needs to be expanded and refurbished. By expanding it, we are able to make a safer space for Choir Room Restroom The choir room restroom is gaining a $1,200 reputation for being like the Hotel California - you can go in but you might never leave. Help us renovate this restroom, make the door open once it's closed, and provide a Replace gutters - Gutters in Louisiana work hard and $2,000 Chapel the ones on the chapel need to be retired. Replace Bird & Animal We truly believe in open hearts, $25 to keep a bird out $2,500 Screens on Sanctuary doors, and minds, but we would like $50 to keep a squirrel out to keep vermin and pests out. Help $100 to keep a raccoon out us keep critters in their natural Chapel Chairs Our current chapel chairs have been well loved and are worn down. After renovating the chapel last year, we would like to retire our chairs and continue to make our chapel a comfortable place for worship. $100/chair $5,000

Replace Carpet in Sanctuary Set up Sanctuary to Live Stream & Record worship services The carpet in the sanctuary is showing its age. There are rips, snags, and stains. There are drips of wax from Christmas Eve services and spots of grape juice from taking Communion together. The carpet has served us well for the last twenty years and earned its Having recordings of all worship services readily available online will help UUMC connect to those outside our physical walls, making us more accessible to guests and possible new $11.36/SQFT $25,000 $8,000 TOTAL $53,400

Holmes Building Entrance Doors Refurbish Handrails Replace Asphalt Roof (Holmes Builiding) Holmes Building Copper Gutters Few doors open as often as the ones on the Holmes building. The doors are worn out and need replacing. The Holmes building is home to our fellowship events, many Sunday School classes, and countless meetings. The handrails need to be refurbished to assist in the Our roofs get tested almost weekly with our Louisiana rainfall. It is time to replace the asphalt roof on the Holmes building so we can continue to stay dry and host classes, meals, and Gutters in Louisiana work hard; the ones on the Holmes building need $3,000 $6,000 $2,500 $4,800 $6,000

ADA Compliant Men s Restroom in Holmes Replace Holmes & Fellowship Hall Windows Accessibility is absolutely essential to hospitality. As it stands, the only accessible men's restroom is in the church offices. By renovating this restroom, there will be greater accessibility for men during meetings, funerals, weddings, fellowship We strive to make our building energy efficient so we can utilize the church's gifts on more than utility expenses. By replacing these windows, we will be able to better insulate our fellowship hall and Holmes' classrooms. Not only will this cut down on utility costs, it will make it a more $7,500 $800/window $40,000 TOTAL $66,800

Smoke-free Sign on Trice Children s building Double doors Smoke-free signage ensures a safe and healthy atmosphere for our children, adults, guests, and neighbors. Help us make our Sunday School classrooms comfortable - rain or shine. Thermostats for Trice Being good stewards of our $2,000 and Children s resources is a Biblical precedent. By adding programmable thermostats to our most used buildings, we can help utilize our funds to the best of our abilities.

Replace built-up roof on covered walkway between Holmes and Children's Elevator for Trice & Children's Our campus' most lacking feature is accessibility. For members, guests, and others that have difficulty with stairs, our upstairs classrooms in all buildings are completely inaccessible.
