THE SETON SENTINEL Father s Day Blessings! FATHER S DAY PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH Glorious St. Joseph, foster-father and protector of Jesus Christ! To you I raise my heart and my hands to implore your powerful intercession. Please obtain for me from the kind Heart of Jesus the help and the graces necessary for my spiritual and temporal welfare. I ask particularly for the grace of a happy death and the special favor I now implore. [Mention your request here.] Guardian of the Word Incarnate, I feel animated with confidence that your prayers in my behalf will be graciously heard before the throne of God. V. O glorious St. Joseph, through the love you bear to Jesus Christ, and for the glory of His Name. R. Hear my prayers and obtain my petitions. Amen Eleventh Sunday of Ordinary Time June 16, 2013 Swoyersville, PA

HAPPY FATHER S DAY! To all Dads, Fathers to-be, Grandfathers, Foster Fathers, Stepdads, Godfathers, Spiritual Fathers, Uncles, Teachers, Coaches, and anyone else who fills a fatherly role in our lives! May St. Joseph, the patron of Fathers, pray for you this and every day PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING Members of the Office of Parish Life from the Diocese of Scranton will be at our parish for the next Pastoral Council Meeting, on Tuesday, June 25th at 7:00 p.m. In the Parish Hall. All members are encouraged to attend this very important session. HOLY NAME-ST. MARY S CHURCH BUILDING UPDATE Permission has been granted by Bishop Bambera to raze the former church structure on Shoemaker Street. Once again, it is with sadness that we have come to this decision, however, we firmly believe that is the best course of action in our given circumstance. As was discussed at the Town Hall Meeting, held back in September, the building has issues that make it and the surrounding properties and homes very hard to sell. In addition we do not want to see it being used for secular purposes. Right now it is a tax and maintenance liability for our parish. We hope to sell all the properties once the church is razed. This is a rather complex process and no date has been set for the razing of the building. We will keep you updated in the weekly bulletin as we want everyone to know what is happening as it happens, not finding out from the secular news media. Parishioners with concerns or questions are invited to direct them to Father Pisaneschi. IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR SOCIETY AND GROUP CALENDARS Attention all heads of societies, organizations, & all who use any of the church facilities for meetings or events. Athletics, socials, prayer groups, scouts, & AAA are included in this request. We ask that you contact Monica at the parish office as soon as possible to obtain a scheduling calendar for the fall of 2013 through the fall of 2014. We need to be sure we do not have conflicts of space and times for the benefit of all involved. Please fill out the calendar and return it by July 1, 2013. Parish groups, beginning with Religious Education, will be given priority of dates. All others will be allowed to use space after parochial needs are met. No one will be allowed to use the facilities without filling out a calendar with the office. Vacation Bible School is planned for the week of July 29th through August 2nd,from 9AM-12Noon. Please call Mrs. Jankoviak at the Religious Ed. Office at 287-4587 to register or to volunteer to help (7th grade to adult volunteers). Registration forms are available on the table at the church entrance & also at the rectory office. FATHER S DAY CARDS During the months of June & July, seven Masses will be said for the living and deceased Fathers whose names are submitted on the Father s Day envelopes found on the table at the church entrance. If you are submitting the names of Fathers who are living, please take the large envelope with the card enclosed, which you can give to him; for Fathers who are deceased, please take the small envelope which has no card enclosed. These can be returned in the collection basket or dropped off at the rectory. Page 2 St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Swoyersville, PA

Festival News and Notes: COMPLIANCE WITH STATE RULES As everyone is getting acquainted with the many rules and regulations the State of Pennsylvania has imposed on churches, non-profit organizations and fund raisers, we want to be sure that we are following the rules. The law states that no one under 18 can operate (or work at) games of chance. Those under 18 can work the children s games and help us in many other ways. We need young people to be runners, help setting up the booths at the start of each night and taking things inside as booths close, help with the supplies, making sure the soda and water are distributed to the proper locations, etc. Everyone can be involved in some way. FESTIVAL T-SHIRTS AVAILABLE We have Festival 13 T-Shirts for Sale! Sizes from Small to 3X are available for $10 each and can be picked-up at the rectory office. See the display in the back of the church. They have a drawing of our church on the front with Festival Staff, and on the back, Proud to be Catholic. PHOTOS OF LAST YEAR S FESTIVAL If you have any pictures of last year s event and would like to share with the parish via the website or the bulletin, could you please e-mail the photos to Father Joe as soon as possible? Festival Special Raffle We are planning to have a special raffle the three days of the festival. We are looking for some large ticket items, such as a TV, camera, bicycle, electronics, for this stand. Please bring items to the parish office. BAKE SALE Our Confraternity of Catholic Women will again sponsor the Bake Sale at the Festival, and all parishioners & friends are asked to contribute. If your last name begins with the letters A-G, you are asked to bake for Thursday, H-R for Friday, and S-Z for Saturday. FAMILY & FRIENDS STAND CO-OP We are looking for parishioners, their families & friends to come together to take charge of a game stand for the 3 days of the festival. You would be responsible for getting workers & reporting to a festival committee member. This is an easy way to get involved. All we need is your time. Thank you. KOUNTRY KITCHEN Please return the filled buckets to the rectory before July 5th. You may also bring items to fill a bucket in a bag, if you do not take a bucket. If you do take a bucket, & for some reason are not able to fill it, please return the bucket so we can get it filled. You may drop off the buckets and all donations to the rectory (use office door) or on the enclosed back porch after hours. THEME BASKETS Please note: Due to regulations imposed on us by the State, we must have a count of all baskets in time to print the tickets for the raffle. Please, if you are going to donate a Theme Basket, have it in before the end of June so that we may comply. For our Theme Basket stand, we are asking you to create baskets with a value of at least $35. Suggested themes are Baker s Basket, car care, beach, hair care, seasonal, etc. More than one family can work together to create a basket. Please have the basket wrapped & ready for display, with a list of items contained in the basket. Please call Doreen Dougherty at 696-4270 or Elaine Lipinski at 288-9831 to let them know if you will make a basket & your theme as soon as possible. (We are also accepting cash donations, & we will make the basket for you) VOLUNTEER SHEETS Volunteer sign-up-sheets for the Festival were included in the packet of tickets that you either picked-up at church or were mailed home to you this past week. Please fill out, if you can take a shift or two, and return it to the rectory as soon as possible so we can plan the workers schedules for the three days. RAFFLE and 50/50 TICKETS Thanks to all who have made early returns on the Raffle and 50/50 Tickets. Please sell as much as you can and return the tickets that you cannot sell as soon as possible. If you need more tickets, please contact the rectory during office hours.
