BBPC Weekly BUZZ January 11, 2019 December 7, 2018 This Week in Worship Saturday, 5:00 p.m. & Sunday, 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Linda E. Owens, preaching Great Expectations Scriptures: Isaiah 43:1-7, Psalm 29 Luke 3:15-17, 21-22 Adult Choir Behold a Star from Jacob Shining Felix Mendelssohn January Sabbath Begins Now that the busy time of the holidays is behind us, it is time to turn our thoughts toward refreshing and renewing ourselves. The CE Commission is encouraging everyone to partake in January Sabbath. For the month, most non-essential meetings and activities will be suspended and we will be offering 3 evenings of time to come together for food, fellowship and reflection and education. We will be meeting Wednesdays January 16, 23 and 30 from 6:30-8:30 at the church for first a light soup supper, then time for adults, youth and children to meet. The focus of the discussions will be prayer - it's many components, ways to pray, history and personal sharing. Please come to one, two or all sessions! Sign up sheets will be available. We are looking forward to seeing you there as we turn inward in reflection and outward in fellowship during the cold, dark month of January.

Prayer Group The next gathering of the Civility/Prayer Group will be held on Sunday, January 13th at 4:00 in the Reception area. All are invited and welcome to attend. Fair Trade Sale On Saturday, January 19 th, and Sunday, January 20th, the Mission Commission will offer for sale, Fair trade items: coffees, tea, cocoas, and chocolates; Zatoun Olive Oil, and hand carved olive wood pendants. Annual Meeting of the Congregation, January 27 following the 10:00 a.m. worship service. Donations of fresh fruit & veggie platters, dips, cheeses & finger desserts will be needed for brunch. Small sandwiches will be provided. Please sign up in the reception area to indicate what you will provide. Thank you! BBPC Youth Youth Group This Sunday, January 13, w e w ill meet in the cave 5-7. We'll be talking about what we'd like to do this winter and spring. Bring your ideas, and a snack to share. Spark Sunday School Bound Brook Presbyterian Church uses a workshop rotation model for Sunday School, which means that we spend four weeks with each Bible story so that children have time to truly understand them. We enjoy science, art, cooking, and creative drama lessons. During the month of January, we will continue to explore Epiphany. January 13: Cooking January 20: Science January 27: Art If your child(ren) will be attending Sunday School this year and you have not yet registered them for Sunday School, please take a moment to complete this form.

Please let Dave Oliver know if you plan to attend by Wednesday, January 30th. 908-705-6821 or dmoliver@optimum.net Adult Mission Trip: February 18-22, 2019 Once again we have an opportunity to put together an Adult Mission Trip. This year we will not be traveling south for ASP. We will stay right here in New Jersey and help re-build homes impacted by Super Storm Sandy. We will be assigned work by the Super Storm Sandy Rebuilding Program (or SBP). There is also a volunteer host site at Camp Evans where we can stay for the week. This project comes to us through PDA (Presbyterian Disaster Assistance). If you are interested speak to John Almendinger or email jjodinger@optonline.net. He will send you links that will explain more.

Do You Have A Passion To Serve BBPC? In this time of Stewardship, have you thought of how you could serve BBPC through your talent or passion? Over the past few years, we have received several new members. The Membership Commission has been trying better to share your interests with various commission chairs and interest groups. However, we are aware that many new members may have been overlooked. For that, we sincerely apologize. Please, at any time, but especially during this time of making a commitment of time, talent, and resources, reach out to the Membership Commission to express your interest in serving of your time. The Membership Commission will give your information to the respective commission chairperson. Perhaps you have been a member of BBPC for a long time and have a new interest or more time to give to BBPC. Thus, if anyone wants to give of your time, please feel free to contact Kathy Hobbs, kathyahobbs6@gmail.com or Doug Boleyn, dboleyn@hotmail.com. 2019 Stewardship Pledges The Stewardship Commission would like to thank all those who have returned a pledge card to date.
