Let us continue to worship as we join in our opening prayer. Opening Prayer: Mold us today, O God, we pray. Sculpt us as your jars of clay. Brimming with Spirit, alive and new. Visible bearers of life, of you. Thank you for keeping faith with us. Hymn: Great is Thy Faithfulness VU#288 Prayer of Confession: Creator God, we find comfort in your eternal greatness, a greatness so vast we cannot imagine it. We find solace in your presence with us, even when we ask you for it. Despite that comfort, and despite our best intentions, we are sometimes captive to a narrowness of spirit a narrowness that harms or excludes those you call us to love. Knowing that you know this, we seek your discernment. Cleanse our hearts of any impure motives. We pray in Jesus s Name, ~ 9 ~ ~ 2 ~

The May newsletter highlights the significant and far reaching benefits of this event. Thank you for sharing your talents, time and commitment. May saw 32 families use envelopes and the number of families committed through PAR declined to 49. Both M&S and Mortgage Fund offerings are slightly less than expected, but the total shortfall ($93) is within reason. Revenues to sustain local church expenses continue to require daily monitoring, however, we have not yet drawn from investment reserves. One year ago we were preparing to welcome Roni as our new Minister. United Church Canada has, for the past 3 years, been engaged with change and the results should be clear this summer. You have, or soon will receive a letter from your Finance Committee Asking for your consideration and participation in sustaining and growing Emmanuel. Please give this letter your serious attention. EUC Finance Committee WE RESPOND TO GOD S WORD Offering Praise God from who all blessings flow, Praise God all creatures here below. Praise God above, ye heavenly hosts, Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Offertory Blessing Communion Hymn: Spirit Open My Heart MV #79 SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION EUCHARISTIC PRAYER V May God come more fully into our lives. May this be so. Let us offer our lives for transformation. In hope and joy, we do so. In thanksgiving, let us celebrate Christ in our midst. We welcome the Christ who lives within and between us. In the beginning, O God, you spoke the Word into creation, and it was breathed through saints and sinners, prophets and judges, women and men. The Word was a love song of appeal and passion, heard by the angels and all the created order. Although we heard the Word, we were torn away by our own yearning and our desire for power. In Jesus, you called your Beloved to be filled with appeal and passion, to be open to your love and so love others. You sang the Word into your Beloved so that he might sing it in a new way, to draw us into the spiralling cosmic dance of love and beauty. ~ 7 ~ ~ 4 ~

Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. Blessed are you, O Light divine. In Jesus the Living Word, you showed us the sanctity of vulnerability so that we might stand in solidarity with those who suffer in him; we remember the power of transformation that energizes our life in Christ. Jesus healed the sick, shared the life of social outcasts, challenged the systems of his time, and encouraged his disciples to follow his ways. On the night before his trial, Jesus shared a meal with his friends. In the fullness of his heart, he looked at them, offered the bread, and said, This, my body. In Jesus work, we are his Body. Then he took a cup of wine, and said to them, This, my blood. In our lives, Jesus is the True Vine. In Jesus family, we are the branches. By these signs of bread and wine, we recognize the longings of all our hearts for a time when all humanity will be one family, when justice and compassion will be the Way we live according to the One we seek. Holy Spirit, hover over our lives, uniting us in these signs and strengthening us to live the resurrected life of Christ in the world. Blessed be the Ancient of Days, Blessed be the Beloved, Blessed be the Spirit. United in Christ, we are being formed into Beloved community. Therefore we include the following persons as we prepare to participate in this outward sign of inward grace (persons are named) Food for the Journey of faith is now ready. Jesus Christ the Bread of Life Hymn (during communion): Eat This Bread VU#466 Jesus Christ the True Vine Post Communion Prayer: Nurtured at this table, we claim the truth of being Beloved. We are now faced with the call to become who we are. The spirit works ahead of us, directing us along the great spiritual journey we make together. God is with us. We are not alone. Hymn: I, the Lord of Sea and Sky VU#509 Benediction Choral Benediction: Go now in peace, never be afraid God will go with you each hour of every day. Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true. Know God will guide you in all you do. Go now in love, and show you believe. Reach out to others so all the world can see. God will be there watching from above. Go now in peace, in faith and in love. Please join us for a time of fellowship after our service. Our gathering will be in Bert Passmore Hall. Just follow everyone else as we head to the hall and our time together. ~ 5 ~ ~ 6 ~
