Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen. Let us pray Father we thank you for the blessings you have given us in this service. We thank you for being re-assured of your love and goodness towards us. Accept our service of praise and thanks and help us to grow in your love. Father, we offer ourselves to you as a living sacrifice through Jesus Christ our Lord. Send us out in the power of your Spirit to live and work to your praise and glory. Amen THE BLESSING. The Priest now give us God's blessing. ALL: AMEN Go in peace to love and serve the Lord ALL: In the name of Christ. AMEN Page 44 February 24 - March 15, 2013

Welcome Well at last the tour is about to start. We will be starting from Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane Thai International terminals, (we need to be at the airport no later than 2-3hrs prior to departure.) Simply book yourself in when you arrive AND BOOK THROUGH TO ISRAEL. This way you don t have to worry about your lugguage in Bangkok for the change to El Al Airlines. The flight to Bangkok (Thai Airlines) and then transfer to our flight to Israel on El Al Airlines (Israel). This is a fairly long flight so have something to read, and a loose pair of light weight slippers wouldn t go astray. On arrival at Tel Aviv, (after exiting customs) our transfer coach will take us on to our first days adventure. Each new hotel we stay at, I will announce the room numbers we will be allocated and (if you wish) you can note these in this book where listed. The reason for this is that at times it is handy to know where others are should you need to make contact with them. No doubt this would be for important things like Would you like to come for a walk, meet at the bar, do you have any spare batteries etc etc But also, there may well be an emergency (hopefully not) when we may need to make contact with you. The tour hot line (my mobile) +61 466 921 985 This booklet contains the day to day itinerary with preparation or background material you might find useful plus room to make notes along the way. Also included is a who s who on the tour. It includes tour members home information should you wish to make contact after the tour ends. I will have the laptop with me with facilities to transfer photos onto a usb drive if anyone wishes to download their digital photos to clear their camera memory chip. Remember to bring the camera cord that connects to the computer USB port. I hope the material that follows is helpful.tel Aviv! - Here we come, ready or not. Father Max Page 2 Merciful God, our maker and our judge, we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, and in what we have failed to do: we have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves; we repent, and are sorry for all our sins. Father, forgive us Strengthen us to love and obey you in newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen GOD'S FORGIVENESS (ABSOLUTION) Almighty God, who has promised forgiveness to all who turn to him in faith, pardon you and set you free from all your sins, strengthen you to do his will and keep you in eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN. The Lord be with you. And also with you. Father, we pray that we who receive these your gifts of bread and wine according to our Saviour's word may be partakers of his body and blood. For on the night he was betrayed he took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, his almighty Father, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, 'Take, eat. This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.' After supper, Jesus took the cup and again giving you thanks he gave it to his disciples, saying, 'Drink from this, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for you and for many for the remission of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.' With this bread and this cup we show forth Christ's death until he comes in glory. We offer our prayer and praise, Father, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ our Lord: Blessing and honour and glory and power are yours for ever and ever. AMEN THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD We who are many are one body in Christ. For we all share in the one bread. THE SHARING No matter what traditional you come from you are invited to receive the sacrament. Page 43

The institute s story took place in 1945-48 between the end of the First World War and the establishment of the State of Israel. The site features the reconstructed secret underground factory for the production of munitions, set up by the Haganah in preparation for the approaching war. The factory workers led double lives: as members of a camp preparing core groups of settlers for working the land, and belowground as bullet manufacturers. The institute was covered with four meters of earth, and its openings were camouflaged by the floors of a laundry and bakery, so that some of the kibbutz members were not even aware of its existence. Thursday 28th October 2008 Drive to Akko (Acre), see the prison where the British hanged members of the underground; visit the Knights of St. John Castle, walk through the shuk to the harbor and the medieval Genoese marketplace. Acre was one of this region s important cities in ancient times. Various cultures made their home here, the Crusaders captured it and the Ottomans lived here for many centuries. Even Napoleon Bonaparte tried to lay his hands on Acre and conquer it, but after two months of siege and failed attempts to storm the city s walls, he retreated in humiliation. Bell Caves Eight hundred bell-shaped pits in the area are remains of ancient quarries, probably dating to the 4th-9th centuries AD. Because this stone was too soft to be used for building, people mined the stone to be burnt for lime and used it in mortar and plaster. The quarry was opened from a one-meter (3.5 ft.) hole in the hard Nari surface above, and then was widened out to create the mine. The fascinating history that has passed through the streets of Acre, the legacy left behind by its conquerors, the buildings that adorn the city and the places of worship built there are just part of the experience this city offers. Among the high-walled alleys and underground passages there is a huge mosque and a Christian monastery, an inn and Turkish baths, halls built by the Knights Templar, with an extraordinary Templar tunnel and fascinating archeological findings. These are joined by intriguing museums and many churches, a row of hotels near the inviting beaches, a marina, restaurants and a picaresque fishing port. Not far away from the city is a beautifully manicured Bahai Garden, build by members of the Bahai religion in Israel. It is a real pleasure to wander the garden s paths and enjoy the meticulously designed flower beds.. Continue to Rosh HaNikra to walk through Israel s blue grotto. Drive across the mountainous north to Safed, home to an artist colony and one-time center of Kabbalah. Overnight Kibbutz Ginosar on the Sea of Galilee. Page 14 Amphitheater Beth Guvrin eventually became Eleutheropolis ( City of the Free ) in the Late Roman period (AD 200) when Emperor Septimus Severus turned it into a major administrative center. The amphitheater dates to this period and was used for animal and gladiator fights. One of the most obvious differences between amphitheaters and theaters is that an amphitheater makes an oval while a theater only makes a half circle. Page 31
