Pam Dinneen s Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday the 29 th of November at St. George s Church at 11am. Pam will be buried at the South Downs Natural Burial Ground at the Sustainability Centre, Droxford, East Meon, GU32 1HR. Pam s family invite people from St. George s to the funeral. Only family and close friends at the burial please. All are welcome to the Brookfield Hotel in Emsworth, where tea and coffee will be available from 12.30pm and lunch from 2pm when the family will have returned. Black need not be worn Pam loved vibrant colours. The family have requested family flowers only, but those who wish can make a donation in her memory to Pancreatic cancer UK. Christmas Cards Please distribute your Christmas cards after the service during the month of December or put into individual pigeon holes. Alternatively you can put a card on the board at the back of church. Reverse Advent Calendar A recent advert seen as an excellent idea whereby each day through Advent instead of opening an Advent Calendar window you place a useful gift in a box for someone who is needy such as a homeless person. Then pass this on. There is a list below of organisations that support people in great need. Why not give it a go. Christmas Bazaar Next Saturday 9.30-1.00pm Many Stalls to Browse Food Come and Support Us

Havant Borough Council Offices hosted a display for groups who installed a WW1 silhouette in their church or community building. Representatives of St. George s Church were invited to display pictures of their poppy displays as did other groups. It was a chance to remember our local heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. We discovered stories told by members of the community through photographs, personal belongings and more. Churches Homeless 2018 Make Christmas special for someone in need by donating a 5 gift card from stores such as Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury s or Argos, which will be given to people this Christmas. Send your 5 gift card before 19 th December to Deanery Office, St. Faiths Church, Crasswell Street, Portsmouth PO1 1HT the following organisations are supported: Society of St James Hope House (Salvation Army) Friends without Borders Portsmouth Refuge (Domestic Abuse) Southern Domestic Abuse Roberts Centre Two Saints Centre Portsmouth Foyer Younger Persons Portsmouth Churches Housing Assoc. St. Simon s Church The Life House Anniversary of deaths This is the last week to sign your name against a loved one that you would like to be remembered for their anniversary of death. The file is on the table at the back of church and will now be updated. Thank you. Any queries please speak to Lesley Handy Horndean Amateur Theatrical Society (HATS) are rounding off their 70th Anniversary year with George Bernard Shaw's classic "Pygmalion". Christmas Memorial Tree Service is on Monday the 17 th of December and you are invited to write a loved one s name on a star and hang it on the Christmas tree which will arrive the beginning of December. Each name will be read out at the Memorial Service which will take place at 7pm. You are invited to this service to reflect on loved ones who have passed in quiet and reflective prayer. Supporting the homeless Many of you will know that churches in Portsmouth offered generous hospitality to homeless and vulnerable people last winter, offering food and beds each night for four weeks in January-February 2018. We re excited to tell you that this Open Church project is set to expand in 2019. The same group of churches will now cater for and host homeless people for eight weeks from January-March 2019. The full details are here: http://bit.ly/2q04it8 You may know people who would like to volunteer with this project because they have a passion to help those in need. Ideally, it is looking for volunteers who can commit being involved regularly for one night a week throughout the project, as the aim is to build up relationships with our guests. If you know such people, please encourage them to attend the training course from 7.30pm-9pm on November 28 at St Jude s, Southsea, so they can find out more. Neil Pugmire Communications adviser.

Pastoral Care Please let us know if you need to have someone included on the prayer list. Also let us know if that person has got better so we can celebrate their recovery. If you haven t seen someone for a while who sits near you in church, let us know. Already we have been alerted to some people that we have been able to follow up, so thank you to those who have come forward to make us aware. Please speak to Fr Colin, Fr Ray, Lesley Handy, Anne Morgan or Churchwardens. Remembering Those Who Need Our Prayers Please remember in your prayers this week: Anna Chapman, Shelley Lazlett, Beryl Bambridge, John Symonds, Irene Kimber, Carole Hunting, Brian Hunting and June Blythe Remembering Those Who Have Died Recently Please remember in your prayers this week: Pam Dinneen, Des Toft Remembering Those Whose Anniversary of Death Falls At This Time Please pray for the souls of: John Wilkes, Jazmine Adamson and Babs Chamberlain School of the Week Please pray for the staff and students at: Horndean Junior School For the Recently Deceased In your hands, O Lord, We humbly entrust our brothers and sisters.
