FAMILY FAITH CHALLENGE The theme of the family faith challenges for September 2013 is the Ten Commandments. We challenge you to think about your relationship with God. How do these commandments help us? September 1-7: Read Exodus 10:1-17. Notice that there aren t any numbers for the commandments. (Also notice that this starts with a promise of God.) Watch your favorite movie about the Ten Commandments, such as The Prince of Egypt. HOPE CHURCH S YARD SALE thank you to EVERYONE who helped in any way to make this year s yard sale a success! PRESS SPONSORSHIPS needed. One sponsor is needed per week at a cost of $6.00 each. Please see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex. NEW BIBLE STUDY - Evangelism will sponsor a new Bible study beginning on Wed, Sept. 11, 2013 @. This is a 9 study booklet, entitled GROWING OLDER & WISER, written by Dale and Sandy Larsen. Some of the weekly titles include "Wise UP, Wisdom Hunt, Wiser by Faith, Dealing with Fears" and more. The first study is based on James 1; 1-8, 12 and we will be discussing dealing with pains, hurts and perseverance. Cost of the study will be approx. $6.80 for the study guide booklet. Because we are growing and learning from each other, no one is expected to be a Bible scholar. Everyone is welcome, hope you will join us in this study. Please note that though we would love to see you at every weekly study, we realize that life has some demands that will prevent you from being there every week, but come whenever you can. You will still enjoy the study. This study is informal; we read together the scripture, discuss it and try to compare it to current life situations. There will be a sign -up sheet on bulletin board. This is only for a guide so we know the approx. number of study booklets to order. For further information, please call Sharyn Kratzer at 610 261 1277. DISCUSSION GROUP Debbie Macomber, a bestselling author, has written a book entitled, Once Upon a Time, Discovering Our Forever after Story. In it, she helps us remember our life s stories, stories that God is writing day by day. A discussion group will be forming to examine one s own life in order to understand God s loving presence. We will answer the questions, Who am I? and Who am I called to be? through discovering our own story. What memories do you hold most dear? What events in your life history have molded you into the person you are today? There is nothing better than getting to know someone by sharing stories. We will be sharing our stories or merely listening to each other. It will not be a Bible study class, but Biblical stories will be included. Questions will be posted each session for you to contemplate before the next session. Our first session will be held on Tuesday, September 10 at 10:00am. At that time, we will begin discussing the book and deciding upon the times we would like to meet. There will be no cost to attend the sessions. Any questions, contact LeAnn Chandler at 610-440-0341.
