COMMUNION PROCEDURES Everyone who believes that Jesus Christ is truly present in the sacrament and sincerely wishes to commune with Him is welcome to participate. Children may come forward for a blessing. When you receive the wafer, you may dip it into the wine (red) or grape juice (white). Gluten Free wafer available upon request. If you would like to participate in the sacraments but are unable to come forward, please inform an usher and communion will be brought to you. EVERYONE IS INVITED FOR REFRESHMENTS out on the patio. Please take a moment to share greetings and joy with one another. Make some new friends by introducing yourself to others. BIBLE ACTIVITY BAGS AVAILABLE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN during the worship service. Please ask the ushers for a bag. At the end of the service, return it to the usher so a child at another service can use the Bible Bag. Sign up at the Hospitality Center today! OUR FAMILY ROOM is available for families with young children. It is equipped with sound and video from the sanctuary. SUBMIT YOUR PRAYER requests for this week by using a Connection Card found in the chair back. Pastor will include your request in today s service. All prayer requests will be prayed for by our Prayer Ministry during the week and included in next week s worship bulletin. ASSISTED HEARING DEVICES are available at the sound booth for use at the beginning of each service. These devices will help amplify the sounds of the service to a comfortable level for the hearing impaired. It will allow you to move out of the sanctuary and not miss one word. Soulfire Youth Ministry There is a Lutherock/Youth Gathering meeting TODAY at 11:00 in the Learning Center. Lunch will be provided for everyone before the meeting begins. Once the meeting is over, we will be setting up the sanctuary for VBS. We will finish by 3:00. Upcoming Dates: Are You Prepared For A Hurricane? Cancer Support Group Those who are battling cancer, survivors, spouses, friends and family are invited to share concerns and experiences. Glasses for Haiti In two months 300 pairs of reading glasses have been distributed through the Village of Hope and have changed the lives of the recipients. We will continue to collect reading glasses and non-prescription sunglasses to be sent to the Village of Hope in Haiti. We have a shipment going in early September. Please continue to donate and thank you for your support. Diaper Drive for Homeless Mothers Children s Home Society cares for young homeless mothers and their infants. CHS provides a 2 year program that teaches these young moms how to care responsibly for their baby, educates them and finds them work. HSLC can be supportive by providing diapers. Please bring them to church. Evelyn Lyerly is the leader of the diaper drive. SNAP for Seniors Do you know a senior struggling to make ends meet? SNAP (Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program) can help them stretch their food dollars and prevent them from having to choose between buying medicine or buying food. Call Committee Update The Call Committee has sent the Ministry Site Profile to Connie Schmucker at the Bishop s Office. She will upload and post this document, which is a 14 page document detailing our church, its mission, its ministries, and the qualities we hope for in Lead Pastor candidates. Pastors in search of lead pastor positions have uploaded their Rostered Ministry Profile (RMP). The MSP and the RMP will be used to match candidates to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church. In addition, we have determined our interview process, and we have created interview questions. We trust that the Holy Spirit will guide us to the very best candidate as we continue with this process. Care Ministry Items needed for the Homeless at St. Ann: shoes, belts, hats, cloth shopping bags, men s jeans/pants (sizes 28-38) and ladies pants. Small size toiletries, band aids, sunscreen, bug spray and vitamins are needed. Please place in the patio storage room. The Food Pantry has a cargo van that is used to pick up food.
