News & Notes October 21, 2018 Welcome! We re glad you re here today. If you are new to Messiah, please stop by the Welcome Center in the Gathering Space for your gift. Good Stuff to Know: The Welcome Center is located right outside the Worship Center. Feel free to ask the volunteer any questions you may have or pick up some information on Messiah. Restrooms are on the south side of the Gathering Space in the coat rack area. If you would like to receive Holy Communion and are unable to approach the Altar area, please talk to an usher before the service. Difficulty Hearing? We have hearing impaired assistance available at the Welcome Center. For Those with Children: Busy Bags are filled with quiet activities for your children to use during the service. They can be found in the entryway of the Gathering Space. Children s Sermon: During the 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. services there is a Children s Sermon where all children are invited to come up. If your child doesn t want to come up alone, please feel free to come up and sit with them or sit in the front pew. Family Restroom: A family restroom is located by the coat racks across from the women s restroom. The Nursery is available for parents and their children three years of age and younger and is located in the hallway across from the rear of the Sanctuary. Sunday School: Sunday School is available downstairs for ages 3 through 5 th Grade. If you would like directions, stop by the Welcome Center. Middle School and Senior High Youth: Meets across the street at Luther Hall during the education hour. Blue Cards: Whether you are a long-time member or a first-time visitor, please be sure to fill out one of the blue cards found in this folder. Please give the card to the ushers/acolytes during the offering. Gluten Free Wafers: So those with gluten allergies or Celiac Disease can fully partake in communion, we have individual wrapped gluten free wafers. If you would like a gluten free wafer, ask the person distributing the wafers when you approach. Disclaimer: The wafers are certified gluten free and are individually sealed, however, some gluten may be on the wrappers due to being in the proximity of gluten wafers. ( 1 )

XYZ-We will leave Messiah at 1:00 on Mon., Oct 22 to go to the Bell Museum, returning about 4:00 WEDNESDAY EVENING MEALS: On the menu this week, sub sandwich, chicken noodle soup, pea salad, veggies, fruit and dessert. Meals are served 4:45 6 PM THE QUILT IS UP! It won a red ribbon at the MN State Fair and the MN Quilters Award. The proceeds from the quilt will go to Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch. Tickets are 1 for $1.00 or 6 for $5.00. ( 2 )
JUST A REMINDER OF THE FALL CLEAN UP DAY AT CHURCH, Saturday, October 27 starting at 9 AM! This is the day we rake leaves, clean up the church grounds and perform any other end of summer chores. NEXT SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28 IS FOOD SHELF SUNDAY. Remember to bring in your non-perishable items to help stock the shelves in our local Food Shelves. THANKS IN ADVANCE for your support of the Pampered Chef kitchen fundraiser. This fundraiser will provide an opportunity to add/replace kitchen tools. Join us on Sunday, October 28th at 12:15. Lisa Barringer is our Pampered Chef consultant at 612-590-9951. TRUNK OR TREAT (Date: Sunday, October 28 th ; Time:4:00-6:00 pm) Time to start thinking about your trunk design - sign up sheet is posted on the bulletin board by the elevator! Candy donations can be left in the church office. HELP FILL IN THE BLANK SPACES on the Bazaar and Cookie Parade sign up sheets. Many hands will make our Bazaar a success. BAZAAR is November 3. Workers are needed (100 people) to help with the bazaar on Friday and Saturday. The sign-up sheets are on the board by the elevator. Please add your name to one of the many slots. Your help is needed to help make the bazaar a success. CHRISTMAS COOKIES are a favorite part of the bazaar, and cookie bakers are NEEDED!!!. Please see the sign-up sheet by the elevator. Recipes are included, or you can use your own. Feel free to bake more than one kind. DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING NICE TO SAY? Share it on Google! Proceeds raised from sales at the Toy Room will benefit Feed My Starving Children. Donate your unwanted toys starting October 28 (after services) through November 2 and support a good cause! Questions: Contact Jen Knoebel at 651.490.1268. LEFSE MAKERS OR WANNABEES! We will be making lefse for the Bazaar on Thursday, November 1 at 9 AM. Bring a dish to share for lunch. GRANDMA'S ATTIC items for the November 3 bazaar may be brought to the east end of the Blue Room AFTER services next Sunday. Please have your items clean. Clothing, exercise equipment, baby cribs, car seats, tvs, and other electronics cannot be accepted. BAZAAR proceeds are divided, 50% to Outreach and 50% to Inreach projects. Outreach projects are Habitat For Humanity, Global Health Ministries, LINC mission. Messiah Inreach projects are Audio Video Upgrade, carpet, and playground replacement funds. GOT A KID IN COLLEGE? OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD is underway today! As you hear about this ministry and consider being a part of it, please read the enclosed brochure, stop at the display table in the gathering space to get more information or supplies and ask questions, and be sure to bring your filled shoebox(es) to the dropoff bin outside the church offices by Sunday AM, November 18.
